  1. As I've stated before, RAA offers a great variety of brand new & hi tech a/c for the individual to fly at a reasonable price, who wants to pay $300/hr to hire a 40 y.o dinosaur.
  2. "Supply it & they will come", I'm sure that some entrepreneur could make a living by getting a contract from the local council to operate a MOGAS tanker, a second hand F150 type truck with a 2,000/3,000 ltr tank fitted is all that would be needed, also imagine a good cafe located at the airport, I'm sure RAA folks would utilize these facilities, it could even make the airport/town a destination.
  3. How much longer do we have to wait for airports to install MOGAS, the preferred fuel for Rotax engines.
  4. That's great news, hope it comes together, a very nice location to get that $100 hamburger.
  5. As just said by Camel, "Anyone who transit Coffs Coastal is taking the safer option. SURELY safety is important." The buzz word in the airlines for the last few years has been Threat Error Management i.e. TEM in my company we always brief the potential threats posed by the airport & arrival/dep followed by ways of mitigating them, safety is always paramount, one only has to look at the VTC chart for Coffs & see that RAA a/c transiting are legally forced to fly over tiger country to remain 1nm visually clear of the CTA, definitely not the safest option, come on CASA approve CTA transits for RAA.
  6. Hopefully the CTA transit approval be happen at some stage, speaking as an airline pilot it's no big deal flying in controlled airspace once you've recieved the appropriate training, I think the GA training schools pushing to prevent this from going through as it would be another nail in their coffin, as I have said before who what's to fly a 30 year old dinosaur when you can fly a wide variety of modern RAA a/c at an affordable price.
  7. As mentioned by Kaz, the drivers licence photo id smart card for ALL pilots (RAA, GA & commercial would be a great idea).
  8. Was amazed when I downloaded the ASIC forms from the CASA web site, decided to use the KISS principal & used an oniline outfit Security ID, from the initial online application to receiving the ASIC card was 8 days, they do all the Aus checks etc for you, definitely worth the extra $40.
  9. Looks like a great spot, going straight to google earth for a closer look.
  10. Looks like an airpark, any hints as its been a week since it was posted?
  11. That's got to hurt the hip pocket nerve, ouch.......
  12. How many more public servants would CASA need to administer another 10,000+ RAA pilots being places on thier books, not to mention a budget increase of course.
  13. Pilots are members of the RAA for a reason, they want the freedom to fly OCTA in modern high tech & reasonably priced a/c, for that reason I see no advantage to getting a RPL. As for GA who wants to hire a 30 year old bug smasher for $250-300/hr.
  14. Don't like the look of that big metal mast at the pointy end of the ship.
  15. Did the same trip a few weeks ago in the Foxbat, it's one beautiful trip, even spotted about 10 whales off Sth Straddy, BTW love the soundtrack to this video.
  16. The RAAF has a bombing range at Salt Ash near RAAF Base Williamtown, the low level pop bomb pattern used to put us over a house in the middle of the bush at 250ft & 540kts, can only imagine how noisy that was........the sound of freedom.
  17. Really enjoyed the vid, thanks, P.S. nice soundtrack too.
  18. Thanks for that GregF, certainly makes complete ground & flight insurance well worth the investment, Cheers, Bennyboy320
