  1. Let them go, get rid of em especially if they are going to wear a Black Hat and don't let them back in. If its a white Hat well each one on its own merit. (Baddies always wear Black Hats). But who are the Baddies, IS sure but a bit of a triangle going on.
  2. I'd be concerned about what might be on the BBQ in China
  3. I'd be concerned about what might be on the BBQ in China
  4. The Pilot known as Flyer in the PPC forums and Cavalon 48 in the rec flyers forum enjoyed flight. evolved into a faster machine "Gyro's" and appears to have pushed it to the edge. No excuses, we all do silly things and fortunately most of us learn from our mistakes. Have a thought for those that don't. Condolences to family and friends.
  5. The above author (Pilot in question) from a post in January. Depends on the height of the wires
  6. A great Aircraft the B52. Great example "The City Of Darwin" in the Air Museum at Darwin. Big dollars, their defence budget is hard to grasp, must be a lot of people paying taxes in the US of A.
  7. OR -Looking at it again, could have just taken off towards crowd, bit of power issue, regain revs but steering into tree. Possible tried to steer away from crowd when power issue arose.
  8. He didn't lose power, it came off a bit near overhead but put it back on. If you look at the left trailing edge of the chute it is pulled down (slows down the left side) before getting to the tree steering into the tree. My guess, doing 2 things at once, left hand on controls and leaning down with right hand looking for more lollies inadvertently turning into the tree.
  9. Goss is he was also Unlicensed and Unregistered. Started Mustering cattle on Horses, then we used Motorbikes and Now quads. All of these modes could kill you when your chasing cattle over rough ground. Plenty of other things Farmers do can kill them. ATV's are OK but not as manoeuvrable
  10. What we are all pis5ed off about is Pilots being stupid and in this case risking the lives of others. There is a set of rules and if everyone just followed them then the statistics would be a hell of a lot less than what we are seeing.
  11. I take offence to that Turbs, this type of behavior from Pilots of any type is poor. Look back at all the Beat ups by REAL Pilots. Now you've seen first hand one PPC pilot do something wrong so ALL PPC Pilots are careless.
  12. Fortunately Pilot and Public OK. now someone needs to kick the Pilot in the Butt. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-07-27/powered-parachute-crash-caught-on-video-mackay-pub/6649448
  13. ABN 40 070 931 645 Operations Manual Issue 7 amendments snapshot CAO 95.10 Section 2.01  Changes to Powered Parachute Pilot Certificate issue, now requesting Examiners add a logbook entry referencing the specific wing and base endorsement (para 2) and removing the cross country endorsement provided specific requirements are met (para 6)
  14. The issue is that there are machines coming into this country which none of the current CFI's fly. RAA don't pay CFI's - CFI's pay RAA. RAA does not employ CFI's, it is up to an individual with passion to go the yards, spend the money and get experience here and/or overseas. Than with the assistance of a Manufacturer cross the T's and dot the I's and spend the money to get an elliptical machine a 32 rego for training and re-write the sylabus for that type. I don't think it is going to happen. There just isn't the money in the sport at this stage. Our local Group D CFI's FTF is at my place and flys out of Caboolture and Watts Bridge and he would be lucky to train half a dozen a year. Do the Sums.... FYI due to locations training includes circuits and radio. My thoughts are that Elliptical's are a progression from PPG's and would probably best be managed by HGFA as their instructors have experience on the type of wing and training in PPC's can reduce hours required in HGFA and visa versa.
  15. Turbs the problem is that everyone is taught in the 32 Factory registered Aerochute. This PPC is the simplest and safest. Evolving to especially the 2 point attached Eliptical is where the dynamics change to a machine that can stall, problem is there is no one to train you. FYI the recent PPC fatality appears to be the result of a broken bolt. Graeme the Aerochute is as you know a approved Factory Built machine and cannot be fitted with any other chute unless approved by the Manufacturer.
  16. So your saying it didn't COMPOUND the situation ??
  17. Interesting the torque roll of the 2 stroke to the left (as the Pilot was accustomed to) and that the 912 spinning in the opposite direction has a torque roll to the right which unfortunately as it was that wing dropping and it appears the Pilot added power to attempt recovery, this action appears to have compounded the situation.
  18. I thought they tasted different
  19. The Beast looked at its options and wisely opted to sit put, could have been CATastrophic if it had jumped on the pilot.
  20. When solo with a Y try to jot down a few notes if your right handed.
  21. Doesn't/shouldn't a BFR include a review of each of your endorsements i.e. Prefight briefing to PAX, Radio calls and check quality of Radios TX and RX, X (fuel management, track planning (yes on paper) AP (inches of Mercury etc ) etc ............................ , HF ?? I'm trying to discuss about what can be done better within our current check system.
  22. So do some high hour pilots get complacent, is that pre-flight check just a rehearsed procedure. I hear some say RAA need to do something to address the level of incidents of which a large percentage do appear to be caused by Human error. Does there need to be some reeducation at timed intervals. Question: Did your last BFR include a Supervised Pre-flight check
  23. It would be interesting to see what percentage of serious incidents occur in School/Hire aircraft as you would expect that the majority of these users would be low hour Pilots with less experience.
