  1. Terrible news,he was my instructor when I took up flying trikes. The most dedicated knowlegable passionate people I have come across in the flying business, gone too soon.
  2. Hedlow Airfield 15mins east trom parkhurst.Very sad condlolences to family/friends.I was flying up there just 2 weeks ago.
  3. I know what you mean Downunder about the HGFA fees, they are ridiculous,I remember my weightshift trike flying days with them, sometimes we complain about the RAAUS,but at least they made a good effort and cosiderably reduced my rego last year with my Aerochute.I guess if the HGFA get more members they will reduce their fees too.Good way to promote this sport is promote it here I reckon.Love the video, why have a complex rocket powered back pack when you can have one of these. What is the fuel burn per hour on one of these?
  4. Thanks for that Mike Nearly thought about giving it a miss that morning,as there was a bit of fog around, but with some luck it lifted soon as the sun came up.If you want to do a fly in ,you would just need to call Judy on 0438789954 as prior approval is needed, and she will be more than happy to help you.Emu Park sure to be on my next list.Cheers
  5. Howdy all, thought i would post this one taken at 1500 ft agl 6.00 am landed 6.45, in time to aviod the Queensland thumpers(turbulance] Great airfield, has full accomodaion, fuel, friendly owners
  6. Troy, your lucky you have no allergies to bee stings by the sound of it.Being in the case of flying a plane, the situation could have been much worse if you were not on your late final to touch down,as symptoms for bee sting allergies can be severe.
  7. Great promotional video, well put together, just what this forum needs.
  8. Always good to have a backup system like the 2 chains and shackles attached,if that was the case.Poor fella, must have really looked forward to flying it.
  9. It would have to be around the Bundaberg region and i say that with experience after living in Melbourne for a while.Got some of the most steadiest calm weather anywhere i have seen.
  10. Oh christ no Bob,I can assure you my feet were firmly planted firmly on terra firma when I decided to look at this Wi Fi problem,Sorry when I metioned booby traps I meant the Go pros wrecking your whole weekend when the battery goes flat because of the Wi Fi problem.Seen too many Aircrash Investigation series to know the dangers of distractions in the cockpit.I am not too sure what your glide ratio is on your Jabiru is,but with an Aerochute you virtually drop like a brick with the throttle off 10-1 glide ratio in fact got to be carefull there especially at 500 feet circuits and momentarily taking your foot off the throttle to do radio calls so other pilots can hear you because the engine is right behind you screaming. No your not too old Bob,you just have good airmanship not to do that.
  11. You have to watch the Go Pro Hero 3 wi fi connectivity booby traps,as I found out at Eidsvold. They have blue light flashing on the side of the camera when the the wi fi remote control is enabled,as i use one on my wrist, which enables you to remotly switch from taking pictures to switching back to video mode. The trap is when you are finished and disable the Wi Fi blue button by pressing it till it switches off,you are led to believe that its off,but it is still running in the background and draining the battery. You have to go to your set up menu and and go to Wi Fi and switch it off from there.Just thought I would mention it as I would gather a lot of other pilots have had the same problem.
  12. That would be great,I am pretty sure they would sell pretty well.
  13. My radio is a Icom-A15,the battery was on the low side, but not flat, but it was definatly the cable.I love the Biggenden aifield,I fly there all the time, its never busy when i am over there, and its always maintained very well. These Telex headsets which i purchasd should be a lot better,as I heard some good reviews on them.Unfortunatly with Aerochutes having the engine right behind you have to take your foot off the throttle when doing your radio calls.but hey i wouldnt swap my string pulling flying mattress for the world.
  14. Thanks for that Mark,it was driving me nuts yesterday,on my headset making crackling sounds even with the sqelch adjusted properly ,I found the culprit,it was a broken wire on my headset to intercom cable.I purchased a new headset today.
  15. Good pics, hope we have more of these cool calm mornings and arvos.Just got back from the outback Cracow, was great up there, but my go pro battery went dead, bumer, getting a spare for sure.
  16. I think when you really study it dissect it and analyse it , and put it under the microscope ,take blood samples etc etc, marriage is all about give and take, you give and the ex missus and the lawyers take.
  17. Well if this was all true, then why is the divorce rate so high. You do not need to be a harvard graduate to know that.
  18. For me it was seeing off the relos at Tullamarine airport as 14 year old and seeing those massive 747-100 jumbos taking off and climbing in the air and just being amazed by it all. Then coming home and seeing those Cathay Pacific adds in the mid 1970s with the Barry White love theme music on the add ,still the best add I think. That is what made me want to fly.
  19. Sad to see, the guy just wanted to go out for a fun fly then this.A 10.00 am flight probably just really caught hin of guard with the turbualance at that time of day with that small elliptical canopy I prefer the comfort of the first light or last hour of the day flight, its hairy enough with a 370 sq ft rectangular rigid canopy at 9.00am.Condolences to family and friends.
  20. Got the cruise controls from Aerochute last week for $215 plus shipping, took her out for a 2 hr flight sure was great to have it on.They are a very easy to set up took me a half hour. They got them on their website and all you need to know. There isnt anything electrical about them which I like, just a simple cable and locking design.
  21. The new online payment system does not work, its useless I logged on ok,filled out the form, pressed the payment key and it did not direct me to a payment confirmation page as it should.I checked my netbank payment details and nothing has been taken out.Best to just do it the good old fashioned reliable way and just pay over the phone.I dont know why they got rid of the old pulse online payments system, as it always worked.
  22. Yep I got one of these little trackers, they are great and gives you good peace of mind.I got mine from Jaycar for $149 bucks and these trackers do everything.Mine is a Response model LA-9011 you can download the manual on your computer and check it out.I wish the poor chaps from Aerochute had them.
  23. Funny I used to smell some pungent bad odors on the 5pm train carriages coming home from the Melbourne city each day after work.I guess its just people being people.
