....called the "Clear Prop" shop and ordered 10 vases so that no poor petunia would ever have to bear the shame of wearing the wrong container again. While he was at the shop, birdbrain saves so much money , he was also able to buy.....

I would love to see plain text weather reports/forecasts. I (and others I know) can decipher the report, but don't necessarily comprehend what it has told me (us) - I tend to write it out longhand and then absorb what it is saying. (If you get my drift....) Years ago as a radio operator tn the army, we trained in Morse code - none of us recalled what we had received until we read the message that was complete. (because we received a letter at a time, not a word or sentance) regards

....why would you put petunias in a bowl - a vase makes much more sense. Anyway as he was only a guest at the Shepparton Aero Club he thought it might be better to keep this observation to himself and not upset the locals - if they wanted to put petunias in a bowl, who was he to upset the apple cart........

G'day Peter, a club needs a clubhouse, and a reason to be. :thumb_up: If you don't own your own building or land, then this is probably the first step. :big_grin: A group of people with a common interest needs direction - they need a goal to strive for, something to achieve. :) Many years ago I was a member of a club that had achieved all sorts of things, but were in the doldrums (it wasn't aviation). They had everything they needed, clubrooms, euipment etc, etc. Then one day the clubroom burnt down - we lost everything and the insurance was well short of replacing the lot. We started a new building from scratch. Used our own labour to save money for equipment - boy did we have fun and work together - people who had almost faded away returned with a keen interest - it was fanatastic. Now - don't go torching the clubroom - but find a project to do and put people to work - you'll be suprised. :big_grin: regards

Guys - 2 people have lost their lives in a terrible accident. I know you are all horrified and we feel a common loss as fliers - but speculating on an open forum such as this is not fair to the manufacturer of the aircraft nor is is fair to those family members who have lost a loved one. Leave the investigation to those who have the facts, knowledge and expertise - when the official finding is published - then I think we have the right to discuss what happened, on line. I know it is easy to talk from the "heart" and we all feel that this could have been one of us. I love to fly, I have no intention of leaving this planet early, but if you live your life with restrictions, just in case, then are we really living. Look at the road toll - who amongst us has given up driving their car? My sympathy to the families. - Fly safe. regards

I have spoken to a few owners who tell me that an extra 7 to 8 knots is possible if you tidy up all the stickyout bits. Probably need to run a 44 inch prop or higher. regards

Just a minor point Rocko - I think you will find the J120 will max out at around 112 knots and cruise around 100 knots. :big_grin: Doesn't make it any less the bargain it is. regards

I had the carby jets changed to what Jabiru recommended in their last bulletin. :thumb_up: This was done at around 250 hrs. I hnow have 283 hrs up and I want to do a 300 hour service b4 I head off to Narromine. Looking forward to meeting forum members at Ian's tent (and the free Hot X buns). :big_grin: regards

My Jabiru is back in the air and running sweet. 4 - yes 4 (oh god yes 4), did I say 4 good compressions! We think its running (my L2 and I) a bit rich, but will leave well enough alone for now. A big thankyou to Jabiru for their "support". regards

AJ (Adrian) won the comp (flying the clubs Piper Archer (this was his first flight in the 'plane - he does own a Piper Warrior) with a near perfect score in daily inspection, preflight, runup and take off. He also flew a near perfect circuit from 200 up in the climbout. It was quite bumpy. :ah_oh: Busier than a one legged man in an A*** kicking competition he kept it all together - the secret seemed to be not to change the trim wheel too much and make good use of the throttle for aircraft attitude/altitude. Adrian learned to fly in a Jabiru J160 and then went on to GA. He does however have a huge advantage over most of us - he's in his early 20's. :thumb_up: Great young boke with many hours flying ahead of him. (by the way the 50 bucks he gave me was just a gift from one Jabiru driver to another) :smiley4: regards

OK boys and girls - I'm going to Narromine this year with my 10 yr old grandson (my first time) ;) Now I don't have an ASIC nor do I feel the need to have one. So I'm looking for whizz stop on the way that is not a security controlled airport. :;)6: I've allowed around 3.5 hrs for the trip and I'd like to get around 2 hours under the belt before I stop. :) So I need one on the way and one on the return trip. I'm open to suggestions. Also: Do I assume that their is no choice of parking area at Narromine - you just get slotted in as you arrive? :;)4: Do you actually camp right next to your aeroplane? If its no "startup" in the lines, how far do I have to pull my aeroplane. (Planning to arrive early and perhaps depart early)(Saturday) :big_grin: Anything else I need to know? ;)
