  1. Where did they come from Sandman?
  2. The question may have come up elsewhere sometime
  3. No and your L1 is in effect as long as you have a pilot certificate and RAA membership (Ask me how I know ).
  4. I did the exam this afternoon. It was alright, basic L1 type material and no great imposition to complete and educated me on the points I got wrong.
  5. Heart; Hang; Jesus bolt, as long as you know they all mean the same thing (I did FWIW). Not uncommon to have different names for items like this across the world.
  6. I raised this as well with the AvPlan and even Ozrunways team with there development.... but it is not there fault, the issue is with the Android operating system (kitkat or whatever) where previous versions allowed data to be read from the SD card the latest OS will not with many types of apps. You can do some 'jailbreak' with the particular models of devices to allow it to read from the card but it voids all warranties and has its own separate unique issues. I had this problem when I bought a Galaxy phone and decided on the 16g version putting a 64gb card in.... ALL the large app I wanted to store on the card would not allow it only some very low volume apps would transfer and work.... a bit of a joke really and I was pretty angry after being told you can run apps from the card no problems patronizingly told "that is what it is there for".
  7. Yes it can. The lead will cause more deposits to build up and I have found that the spark plugs get pretty dirty too... none the less it can be used but better to have a mix of standard and AVGAS.
  8. Long walk but you would make it, eventually.
  9. Someone threw that months Sport Pilot mag out in my house Anyone post it up somewhere? It was an interesting article - I used a LifePo in my aircraft for over a year (582 Rotax). No issues. I regularly flew for over two hours and as I had plenty of experience using LiPo elsewhere and had a disconnection switch right beside the battery (which I disconnected after use to prevent parasitic drain); I regularly checked the battery temp - not once did I ever feel ANY temperature rise. If anything I was usually concerned it was too cold. Voltage never exceeded that the previous Lead Acid battery reached when in use. I read a fair bit about the Ducati charging system after I read Ed's article - as mentioned above, I understand it is the same as used on the bikes... I lack the experience of Ed of course. None the less: these batteries are volatile but I didn't think that the testing Ed did was a true replication of the charging system (particularly the regulator/rectifier) under normal operating ranges. Would be happy to be corrected on that but you will need to post the article to prove it I think Ed's tests were done on LifePo4.
  10. Hi Bevan, How big are the files with the maps ERSA etc? One thing for your consideration... I purchased a Galaxy S5 phone to replace my iPhone 5 and got the 16gb version. Once you have the operating system and other apps you lose a significant amount of that of course. I thought that would not be an issue as the S5 has a mini SD slot which I promptly filled with a 64gb card. HOWEVER many apps (espescially those with maps and large files) are not allowed to read from the Mini SD card (Android 4.1 wont allow it for some reason where as previous OS would). The files must be stored on the phones memory...So you are hamstrung on this device at least from storing large files (and reading them from) the SD card slot WITH SOME APPS. Can Avplan Lite read the map files from the Mini SD (and or run the app itself from there). Thanks!
  11. Isn't it the best in all taildraggers? (In light winds)

    What did you get yourself?
  13. Was done a few years ago behind a Dragonfly
  14. Yep first thing I though was storage. Increase the front fairing at least and add some storage around the pilot. Wheel track seems quite thin.
  15. None of the flying is particularly hard for any average pilot... just stupid doing it in such a confined space with people around .
  16. Lightening Ridge Hotel Motel is another option... let them know you coming and transport is provided.
  17. I use the Exped Synmat in a tent. Very comfortable... Insulated so very warm just sleeping UNDER a sleeping bag even on very cold night. The hand pump is the only issue but you get used to it ....
  18. I am way too lazy and impatient to do it myself. Just found it on the web
  19. That is the Gatton Airpark I know a few people out there...
  20. That is all I have ATM.... Report of 'Light Aircraft' on fire near Gatton (Qld) from Twitter feed.
  21. Here is your last one ... thanks so much for uploading these and to the Fisher girls as well!!
