  1. I did mention the tecnam, very well balanced machine :)
  2. If you had to ditch in water for some reason it could get "lively"
  3. Silly question probably, but what happens if you fly into rain, with the electric motor hanging out in the breeze? I assume it is sealed somehow but it will need some sort of airflow for cooling.
  4. Yeah I had a look on their website, electric is an option, my guess is they don't come cheap.
  5. Isn't there a new generation of Gazelle's being built ? Something rings a bell there. I only hope they make the cabin a bit wider
  6. An electric motor glider with a folding prop/ retractable motor would be really nice, only power it on when you need to.
  7. and after all that , you have to get the thing registered with RAAus.....
  8. Hi Stefan Can the Explorer or Safari (i.e. home-built Kit) be registered in Australia with a 600 KG MTOW? I'm not too clued up on the regs but I assume that would/could be an experimental E-LSA? Are there any that are currently registered in Australia?
  9. I don't know if being in my early thirty's is classed as being a "kid" but the one and only hurdle for me is the cost, i.e. expendable income (real world/family/life commitments take priority as they should) I guess i'm not earning what I will (hopefully!) be earning in later years so it may not be so much of a problem later on. I only hope i'm healthy enough. I earned my certificate in 2008 but I've only been able to chip away on my Nav's this year. Cost is still an issue. To be honest I've been asking myself if it's really worth it but then again flying is my passion, so enthusiasm or interest is not a problem. I'm not giving it up anytime soon.
  10. I have the same train of thought, once I do my solo nav I'll have the 10 hours required to get my PAX endo. I only intend on taking passengers after i get my X-Country done and dusted. I'll definitely feel more confident that I do now about taking a willing passenger.
  11. Sounds like you have it tough. Welcome :)
  12. Nice, am hoping to do my second Nav in the next couple of weeks, stupid weather .....
  13. Wasn't me unfortunately, just shared the video.

  15. You'll probably have to pay your own liability insurance as well, unless the school is willing to put you on theirs.
  16. Some pretty spectacular aerial shots on this site: www.skyhawkphotography.com
  17. Excuse my ignorance but can you explain what is meant by " fly slower with a tailwind and faster with a headwind" are you referring to engine power (rpm) ?
  18. Wow, I was shattered watching that, can't imagine how they felt at the end.
  19. I didn't know that the R22's have the same issue? Why aren't they forced to do the upgrade as well?
  20. From the outside looking in, it boggles the mind how nothing was done to ground those helicopters, would've saved alot of lives.
  21. It'll be interesting to see sixty minutes' take on the recent Robinson helicopter incidents regarding the fuel tanks , this Sunday night.
