  1. CAE had some less restrictive exhausts, some said big performance upgrade, others say not I did hear a fair bit or work went into standard Jabiru exhaust can but who knows
  2. Many have read it but have a different take on events than Rod does
  3. Yes Within your setup it's all good, just can't compare to Others numbers really Read Jabiru USA PDF on tuning ducts, bit fiddle and trial and test. Make small adjustments
  4. Been discussed before, can't really compare temps from different CHT probes, instruments mounted differently. Could be cold junction errors at a minimum Work was done seeing 20-30 deg higher readings when probes shielded from air flow The members seem great, by the way but needs to be measured same way and same probes to be comparable to others or the Jabiru/CAE specs
  5. All Jabiru engines came from Camit. Jabiru have never made an engine themselves. Several versions of the 2200 exist including a certificated one. They have been working on a new engine which isn't ready yet, first examples assembled recently. Some parts have been in testing for 12 months or a bit more So unless there is pre Camit closure stock sitting around Id suggest no Jabiru cannot supply a new 2200 engine or some of the major parts for them. Perhaps ask them.
  6. Jab USA has a good document of how to go about setting up deflectors to even out cht
  7. Not much stopping someone making replacement parts. Especially those Jabiru can't or won't supply CAE parts were largely different anyway Wound up company can't take action against anyone
  8. Receivers engaged, no hope of restarting
  9. Rod is claiming cht below 100 deg C with new heads and cylinders
  10. Yes some parts will swap, not sure about solid lifter types, and in many cases where you would fit one new head or cylinder, you'll be forced to fit a full set. New heads wont fit old barrels either s going to get to new engine cost quickly. Great result for Jab. jabiru flywheel now uses nordlock spring washers to maintain clamping force instead of Loctite yet to be convinced this is a fix, an improvement maybe
  11. For sure, should be a good thing but fill it with cheap parts and the old problems could continue Its a new engine and will need a lot of testing Main problem is the 7000 existing engine owners out there. Emergence of a new engine means even less chance they will be supported
  12. The last remaining Australian supplier to Jabiru engines was possibly Camit Many parts imported from Asia and other places now and for some time China and other low cost production countries can do the work, just QA is sometimes poor for the reasons Bex has pointed out. It hasn't treated jabiru well. Lower grade Valves with collets that don't fit. pistons with crook grooves and circlip seats, coils, senders, wasn't there some faulty filters? Jabiru just HAVE to work out customers want good not cheap in engines. If they offered an engine with all "branded" parts that cost $2K extra, people would pay it.
  13. There are almost no engines in stock A few production runs over the last 12 months, most went overseas to order Large stockpile of returned exchange ones waiting rebuild
  14. Cant get to 7000 flying in without that kind of production numbers somewhere CAE borrowed and geared up for this capacity, I think AUD rates killed overseas orders, but also this was when Hydraulic lifters introduced, chinese sourcing of parts and problems began. Look at dates on SB. Jabiru take no responsibility for this and lump all the blame on GFC. Reputation was allowed to be trashed by inaction and self denial which continues. No doubt Camit was too big to handle low volumes seen since then and ham fisted CASA action was simply nail in coffin.
  15. There's a lot of truth there Bex, otherwise why is the marketplace looking for another option like yours, Maybe your happy CAE is gone the way it has?
  16. Might be a job for you with Jabiru Bex, history says they need QA oversight there
  17. Rotec heads have not been without problems Jabiru never stocked much parts, they were ordered as required from CAE, They have been sourcing some of their newer stuff from elsewhere, not sure of quality, and they are of old designs which have some known problems Certified gear would need to come from supplier able to do so and meet CASA regs on production and that isnt a simple task. By the size of the pile of broken Jab engines in their shed Id suggest they are planning to rebuild them for resale using new heads etc.
  18. I agree, honestly a good business too heavy in debt. Too nice a guy running it too.
  19. Im sure that was always Rods plan Id suggest it will renew interest in Rotax and Other conversions
  20. And with that deliberate decision to shaft Camit, Jabiru gave another middle finger salute to all existing engine owners Camit borrowed and took risk on the back of agreements with Jabiru and long term sales. They watched as Jabiru altered and changed the product resulting develop serious problems doing little to fix. Wouldn't even listen to their knowledge and understanding of the issues. Only through CAE and CASA taking this track (forcing Jabiru to do some hard work and admit some problems) does the Jabiru engine survive at all Camit are the only ones who have presented the engine as reliable as it should be.
  21. If CASA had taken a different path and not damaged the engines name so badly, sales numbers would not be so low Jabiru should receive most of the blame for sure and owners who have supported them are to be the biggest loosers
  22. Theres talk of combining Narromine into Dubbo Frequency - then youll have RPT on there as well and things will get much harder to run a fly in Id guess - its out for comment with CASA/ASA? currently As as far as I can tell its because certain RPT have company policies regarding distances and frequency monitoring. It isnt Moorabbin and most are glad of that - its one of the big features of the location.
  23. Aldo is right, now many customers with complaints have no choices but to front up and spend a heap more money with people they complained about. Wish I had a dollar for every person who said they were definitely buying a CAE engine when the time came. Maybe 10-15 on Friday alone. Just got several OEM approvals from Bathawk, Sonex and some others, new manuals and products just a few weeks ago.
  24. Kenny, we saw that incident and discussed at the time. We could not hear ctaf radio calls. Main point is that the system worked, one aircraft went around and there was no near miss. A straight in approach is possibly not a great idea but within normal rules for the CTAF and that can't change for the event. If a call wasn't clear it should be asked to repeated, not sure it was. Our debate was if it were safer for a large quick twin to complete a circuit with a bunch of mixed aircraft or a direct approach...still not sure But we all agreed aircraft in circuit have right of way What we also saw was perhaps 75% of aircraft landed upfield of the threshold markers or the keys. Other point was aircraft not doing what was instructed or not having a working radio, or a really crap one - surprising number to me at least Only one incident from maybe 400 landings isn't a bad result.
  25. Anyone know who accountants or receivers are?
