true but max MTOW under RAA has gone up and without other options customers have not much choice regards to price
BUT unless Jabiru approve it, it cant be used in LSA (or Cert models) and therefore for training
"End of the year" was the last quote
Right now there are no options so its likely other engines will become more popular.
They really are pinning company on this new engine release and success.
A approved 912 FWF conversion might save them in the training market but would kill off the 2210 I suspect.
If there's 0.02 error in testing gear that means every reading from 0.0 and 0.07 should be Ok to drive or under challenge
Having an error around 40% of the legal level to drive seems absurd and if it could be challenged, would be
Been looking and there's a few good brands offering a compatible filter, Baldwin, OEM Toyota, Fleetgaurd and others, just not sure they arent all the same, possibly the same manufacturer.
Gets back to actually getting real message across or having many pilots confused or tuned out after first paragraph - the fact this thread exists says the regulations as written are ineffective and that should be the measure of it. Not how technically correct the phraseology is.
Technology can change faster and accurate testing could detect lower limits maybe next week. Setting limits on anything at MDL (minimum detectable Limits) is a slippery slope as equipment improves and you find limits attached to that not common sense.or the intent of the limitation.
You cannot have any alcohol in your system to fly, End of story
Isnt there also some wording around "preparing to fly an aircraft" This includes planning etc.
agree
options appear very hard to come by.
Interesting I found some comments regarding over pressurization, filter should expand, balloon like, not split.
Most failures discussed are Seal and base failures
Yes, this was a different issue, I did get one of these filters and they were quite different. Some were splitting prongs
Equal result though
Who handles Champion aviation parts in Aus? Going to be expensive
They still fit current toyotas, Echo??
All auto parts stores have like 10-12x on shelf.
Higher pressure could be related to under piston cooling jets, not sure.
They also have habit of very low pressure at hot idle.
Suggest ryco make repco versions, the higher efficiency Z386 hve finer media and look ok but also have wire mesh support which might make cutting open media difficult. They run the same canister.
Honestly can't trust Jabiru Asian supplier choices.
Interested in champion filter mentioned above
hope everyone has read incident reports recently.
Yes it's. Even reported both to RAA and Ryco (who said they had never had a report of split filter before)
Yeah you missed my point Kasper, I did try to edit to make clearer but too slow
Im keen on ALSO being able to achieve "builder" status by training rather than having to build under 51% rule
Ive seen some builders with no idea and some exceptional maintainers who dont have time to complete a build.
I see that current situation is we have
L1 - most basic knowledge and maybe no skills
Big gap
L2 conducting Maint for payment
probably is a tick box test , and its an efficient way to deliver it.
At the least its more than the old system may have presented
Id like to see hands on training available all the way from introduction to "builder" status.
the L1 training is to raise the level of training......what you are asking for.
its only a very basic standardised test to force people to read the rules, know what they are and are not allowed to do.
Hopefully when to get help
The real issue is people overstepping their ability in maintenance.
Improve real ability with training by all means but if its going to be mandatory then its a very big and expensive job. Also not likely to be a one off
Does everyone realise the entire limitations still apply to engines that haven't been upgraded to latest list of Jabiru upgrades, even those now admitted to be non relevant.
Including all those aircraft in the experimental sectors where all other modifications are OK.
This problem hasn't gone away for many, Id suggest a whole lot now ignoring it.
Some older models had different legs and Jabiru may not use or have them anymore
There's plenty of parts even from just 10 years ago Jabiru can't supply anymore
Look hard for cracks or delamination
I replaced outer flat rubber plates, they had compressed to nothing, helped a fair bit
From memory these legs are quite expensive
There are a few early versions of the air box, Seems Oscar had a different one to current offering
This line of thought means that internal cowl pressures can effect mixtures........ and might explain why playing with oil cooler inlet hole or cowl flaps can alter EGT.
