  1. Painting is the part of the build that really stalls the momentum. Less so if you do your own painting for sure but Guy took five months to get all his parts painted. Reg, ever the optimist advised me to avoid my chosen metallic green in favour of White because it will be easier to match when I am doing repairs.
  2. Avoid dark colours on the wing leading edge, what ever else you choose. When parked in the sun they suck in nasty dents as they heat up. Crease a Coke can a few times and the result isn't pretty.
  3. I highly recommend the ground floor. Skee built on a higher level, see #290 here And a Savannah S in Sweden.. I used my Mum's lounge room which was quite comfortable.
  4. Does she rock the boat?
  5. Fasteners & Tools look towards the bottom under Self Ejecting Dzus Fasteners.
  6. What is the weight dockage though. I copped 1.5Kg per wheel to go over to Condors on my Savannah and that is acceptable. Not sure I would be comfortable giving anymore away or I would have to trade in my heavy prop on a ground adjustable one.
  7. A lot of discussion here, Foxbat tundra tyres , I remember "Ultralights" comment and he went on to out some on his Savannah I am pretty sure. Might be worth messaging Rob on here.
  8. Just need a bit of rubber around the join and you could hang a small outboard on it and use it for a tinnie when you get to the spot. Not sure it would outrun a crock though.
  9. Savannah Muster finally....from small beginnings it may grow.
  10. If the elevator fabric is that sick, the rest of the airframe must surely be suspect too.
  11. Windscreen wipers???
  12. Hope this is all my Toolex needs to bring it around! It has only riveted one airframe and now I can't get 40psi to spray paint.
  13. And both these aspects make it next to impossible for our young farmers to get a start, so they are lost to trades or the mines.
  14. I emailed an expression of interest a few days ago and they have already made contact with me.
  15. Well the rub was extremely effective, I was working outside and got the full show, gave me plenty of time to be envious.
  16. It is under Rankamateur(grey marker) in the airfield resource on here.
  17. And to the Savannah who did a big orbit of Coolatai Airpark and then headed off over towards Aerokits before resuming his course, Thanks for rubbing it in! No I didn't get to go to Ozkosh. Maybe next year.
  18. Wonder has she forgiven him for selling her yet?
  19. May also be a faulty selector switch on the dash so check it for continuity in both positions before replacing the sensor.
  20. Hey Hank, Just put your lounge in storage and get in to it!
  21. You can't build empires by working with other empires unless you plan on conquering them!
  22. Those PTT mounts look like the goods! Isn't it a pity ICP don't include a couple in the kit instead of each builder having to spend three quarters of an hour turning them on the lathe! Seems to me it would be very efficient to mould them like the rudder bar and throttle bar mounts.
  23. I have too, I distinctly remember as a 17 year old, flying trough the air thinking, "I wonder am I about to die?".
  24. He also designed the rudder extension that they have adopted in the tail dragger version, as I mentioned previously, we talked about it on the phone one night and about two days later when I turned up over there, he had the parts for the version 2.0 lying on the bench ready to install. His version had more stiffeners in the rear of the fin to support the extra load but when I bought the factory version for my kit it was much simpler, modifying only the top of the rudder.
  25. My kit is a July 2013 issue and it still had near identical to yours, I can't remember if it was the next batch of kits or the batch after that the adjustable bucket seats were introduced. I assumed the new seats were this type, but looking more closely at the photo they don't have the cut out in the middle for the twin joysticks like the bucket seats do, so now I am thinking they are just an upmarket flat cushion for the old style seats like you have. They always did have a leather seat option at considerable increased cost, to make them more acceptable to European car drivers I guess. Either way there would have to be some sort of internal frame to support that head rest or it would just flop down after a short time.
