Love flying the tecnams. Had a p2006t fly through my Airspace yesterday. Wouldn't mind some twin time in that
-
240 is wishful thinking. Go fly ones are less than that

Highly recommend the sling and gofly. John is a great instructor with some amazing experience to draw on. In fact all the instructors are brilliant there. Only problem with the sling is weight limitations for those of us who are a bit more portly.otherwise a gorgeous aircraft to fly.

Well there are a number of us atc here who would be happy to help if needed. I do low northern nsw, Nathan does high international stuff and I think Rhys is tower. The mix of these users on this website is amazing

Good luck with that Mate. We have a lack of good aviation podcasts with a regular release schedule in Australia. Plane Crazy is just about it. It's been a while since I listened to it but I think it was a fairly irregular release times from memory.
-
Just a note on something someone said earlier. If you ask for clearance through cta and we can issue it we are assuming that you are allowed. There is no way for atc to know if you are allowed in cta or not. Don't assume that atc letting you through is equal to an exemption on your ra permissions.

Misuse of ultralight term or naming all aircraft as Cessna
shags_j replied to Zibi's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
My problem with calling everything an ultralight is that whenever there is a crash (172, lsa, basically anything short of a DH8) then it is referred to in the press as an Ultralight. That term in the public eye then becomes synonymous with being unsafe. Not only does that sometimes cause concern for potential passengers you might have, but I am sick of getting the statement from people "ultralights, that's pretty dangerous isn't it. They crash all the time". -
WWW.recreationalflying.com ;)
-
No they will report "an Incident with an Ultralight"... Remember anything smaller than a DH8 is an Ultralight ;)

Have you had troubles travelling coastal Chocolate? In class D at Coffs I would have thought the Tower wouldn't have an issue since we don't have to separate IFR and VFR in class D. After tower hours it's G down there so fill your boots... The only real issue is in the class C steps South of Coffs since there are Terrain clearance issues.

Wake turbulence is just one of those things. I've had aircraft at FL340 and above complain about wake turbulence from an aircraft 20 mile ahead.
-
Time between departures depends on acft wake turbulence category. And really only applied when a higher category tamed of in front of a smaller one. Two mediums (738, a320 etc)there is none. Have to heavy use distance. I'm not a tower controller though so maybe they have more detailed charts

Lol my wife won't even drive on the freeway. I have somewhere between buckleys and no chance of getting her to fly an aircraft. If we do start doing cross countries together in the future I would strongly suggest to her that she at least has a few lessons in case of emergency.

Jesus when did this get resurrected

That makes sense

Phil, I know on my sector we only have access to our assigned frequency. Maybe the ss has a special function where he can assign any frequency to us. I go back tomorrow so I will ask.
-
Yeah if it was TL then the military can access 126.7. Checked today and none of us in BNE center can access multicom
-
not all ASA controllers can access 126.7 as far as I know, none can.
-
Yeah but i got the impression that a lot of the older rag and tube guys don't want CTA due to required medicals etc. that may impact on their own flying. If not why can't we petition CASA for the access?
-
remember CASA don't go out of their way to irritate us. I think the blame here lies with the minister and the edicts he hands down. Maybe our aggression should be focused elsewhere...

Reality is if you put it smack bang in the middle of the terminal most people still would not even notice it. I like where it is. With the new service center it is more visible and anyone coming from the gateway to the international terminal drives straight past with a great view of it. I think if it is visited a couple of times a day as OP said, then that is a win!

I remember going d there as a kid and watched a twotter take off. Jesus it looked tight

What are you in to get that far out? Don't tell me you took the Jab that far.

Excellent thanks guys. I'm actually not getting an iPad mini but a galaxy s 8.4. I figured iPad mini would be closest example that oz runways is on at the moment. Thanks again guys. Shags

Hey guys Just wanted ppls thoughts pls. Looking at getting a tablet and am tossing up with screen sizes. Has anyone used say oz runways or something on an iPad mini? I'm thinking the smaller screen size would be better to take up less cockpit task estate but us it big enough to read properly. Cheers Shags
