  1. It also depends on the beach, in QLD a lot of the beach’s come under the Parks, Sports and Rec: https://www.npsr.qld.gov.au/policies/pdf/op-pk-vm-landing-recreational-craft-qpws-managed-areas.pdf Aircraft and recreational craft landings to be authorised Aircraft and recreational craft may only land in: • protected areas (State land) authorised (except on a designated landing area) by a Permit to land aircraft or use recreational craft. • recreation areas authorised (where supported) by way of a written approval from the Chief Executive or the Queensland Recreation Areas Management Board respectively. • State forests and forest reserves authorised (where supported) by way of a permit under the Forestry Act 1959. Aircraft landings – general Due to potential issues and impacts, aircraft landings in QPWS managed areas are discouraged. Only in exceptional circumstances - and only where it is demonstrably in the public interest to do so - will landings be authorised. Landings may however be authorised at existing constructed aircraft landing areas that meet certain statutory requirements and other guidelines (see below) and are subject to appropriate maintenance programs.
  2. I don’t have someone who can attend of my behalf. I’ve sent you my form though.
  3. I’m with you, as a RAA member and AOPA member, this is just confusing as hell. I keep my RAA Membership as I enjoy flying a Sling 2 on occasion and dont mind supporting them. However when things like this happen and they waste our money like this it’s just crazy. I really hope they remove their trademark claim quickly.
  4. I just tried his website it doesn’t work :(
  5. You do realise you were quoting my comment from last years problems.
  6. I hope you are having a great trip, loving the photo’s make sure you all start posting more. check with the resort to see if they can offer transfers. Plus it’s only $55 landing for under 5700kg, inc first 24h landing, not that bad given the cost of accom etc.
  7. It’s a Cherokee 140, though it has 160hp pistons. The main reason is the coarse prop. I regularly get 115/120 ktas @ 75%. However the climb and take off are to be watched.
  8. A beautiful day for flying today, I had a delayed start waiting for the fuel truck, then he ran out of fuel so he had to go back to fill up. This gave me plenty of time to relax "inside" the plane as it was still a bit cool. I wanted to put my new D2 Charlie into action, had a flight plan from AvPlan across to it and the iPad Pro 10.5 on the yoke. After getting fuel I was off. Left YBAF a very nice smooth day and was TAS @ 120knot. An average GS of 194.6kph and a short 100km 30min flight to YCDR. Arriving at YCDR I joined a downwind as there were a few others in the circuit, had to slow her up a bit and extend downwind for a couple of other aircraft. A perfect touch down on 23, backtracked 30 slightly as the aircraft that landed just before I did, went into 12 to allow a waiting aircraft to take off (courteous piloting). I was then happy to show the flight school that I did my RAA flying at our pride and joy. It had to be a short stay as I had work to do in the afternoon, so I took back to the skies. Once again a nice quick trip back to YBAF with yet another landing by the numbers, get my taxi clearance and then tie her back down and head back home. I am really loving this beautiful little Piper.
  9. Same as Brisbane, I would say land at YBAF(Archerfield) or YRED(Redcliffe).
  10. For the RPL you will need, an ARN, English proficiency test, 2h of hood time, with 1h being in an aircraft, at least 5h PIC Nav, as Canberra takes rpt you will need a ASIC card. You will need a Medical and then submit the CASA Form 61-1RTX. Then you will just need to do a Flight review and you should be able to include the Controlled Airspace and towered aerodrome as part of it,.
  11. You need to have RPL (with CTA/CTR) or PPL/CPL plus a radio and transponder. Then you can request to fly in.
  12. Here is 9’s report this morning with helicopter video: Light plane crash at Redcliffe airport - 9News
  13. I was just over in Fiji a few weeks ago and for the life of me couldn’t organise a flight. Everyone I contacted said the CAA had stopped TIF/non CPL based training. Glad to hear that is not the case. I would love to go back and fly there. Damn - just saw this was a very old thread being dug up.
  14. The problem is with an iPhone/Samsung S9+ Etc is that you would still have to have full paper copies as they do not statisfy the 200mm minimum requirement for EFB.Only and iPad mini and above do
  15. Yes that should meet it, just as long as they allow the face to face meeting on collection of the card. I wish you the best and enjoy flying here.
  16. The problem for the ASIC is the in person interview to verify the person. See if you can find some way to get around it it: give these guys a call: Aviation Security Identification Cards as they might be able to talk you through it.
  17. A beautiful day today in SEQ, after last weekends flight review in such crap weather it was a welcome change. Getting used to the radio calls for the controlled aerodrome. A few more flights and I will be continuing on my PPL next month.
  18. Damn, I just bought an iCOM A-15 a month ago...
  19. I used Aviation Security Identification Cards - very fast and efficient.
  20. Yeah I loved landing the Sling 2at Orchid Beach, I thought $20 was a great price for the work they need to do for it. Very happy to fly there again, I also love taking the 4x4 Theresa it’s just such an amazing place.
  21. I was very lucky yesterday and was able to take the PA28R-180 with my instructor from YCDR to YEVD for the Great eastern fly in at Evans Head. I still needed 1.1h or instrument time as part of my RPL Nav conversion so I got to do hood time there and back plus class c airspace on the way down and a Touch n go at YBAF on the way back. There were some great looking aircraft there and a nice day of flying as well. Kaine's Aerial Photo and Videography
