  8. might be all those other things that reflect who you are but I agree with FH's point .............. pilots, ownership or hire, its a group of people, its interaction, getting to know others with an aviation interest .................. thru similar owners, most other aircraft owners or even the local aero club (if there is one)

I'm a retracking record .............. but under the regulatory division the first thing that would be an immediate benefit to members would be to get rid of annual airplane registrations (lets stamp out tedium) If the organisation needs revenue lets devise another way (like 'hot potatoe' or spin the bottle - etc) - not by creating mountains of annual paper work - as is the current system
  11. I just read in a nz rag that a 'biggles' flew a C150 or 152 from hobart tas. to haast nz. (middle west coast sth island nz) direct ............ .......................... 10.50 hours I think it said !
  12. another one is sunlight soap - good gear I reckon - the good old cake of yellow soap - and plenty cheap to - soap it on with a rag and then come back for a second go and the exhause gunk goes you can use for other things as well having matrimonial problems ?; give your wife a good hot bath in sunlight soap - these problems will also be fixed in no time .... as well

  16. The way that certified F 18 rolls - the nose of that plane was rock solid on the horizon - looks like its all aileron for roll and elevator for vertical - no rudder at all I guess ? Be nice to know ?
  17. Yes Flyhi Luck it seems. You (we) could probably force RAAI to give the full 12 months (from date of issue) but I'd suspect the logistics of that would be to tough - considering their current workload & things to sort

  21. so if you are flying along and maybe from paranoia you hear a rattle (incident 1) up front or down the back or under the seat or above in the wing root ..................... or you percieve the motor is not performing like usual (incident 2) and you adjust the throttle and maybe even carb heat ! ............... and every thing then seems OK - then if you don't land at the nearest strip - you are negligent ? surely that can't be how the law thinks of the actions of a licensed pilot ? maybe (engine vibes) are considered to be more threatening / litigous - but I would have though carb ice could give the same symptoms
  22. IAN a tiring question but if I donate $ 50.01 do I automatically become a first class member ? - I don't want to - I want to go through life as a private - may be a corporal - not any higher ...................... though, 1st class on my blemished record would be a blemish ! please advise
