  4. yeah there's some wild driving there between Mt Alexander Rd turnoff and the turnoff to the Aerodrome with people in the wrong lane as well. Nev
  5. You MUST be sure where ALL aircraft in a close proximity are at all times. IF you can't see it, be worried till you do. . GOOD radio and procedures is the best AID to such situations. What happened to radio checks? Frequent operations at low level in a salt environment more so, Corrosion. I've flown with 5 No radio U/Ls in the SAME circuit and that's about saturation for me and quite tiring. Overlapping intersecting Circuits Are Russian Roulette requiring extreme caution. Nev
  6. That's the extreme view. Hopefully not the majority view. It's the Job of the CASA to sort this out. . They won't wish to but that's the reality. They do audits when it suites them.. Nev
  7. Seems more like MASS debating to me. Nev
  8. Most tests are based in passing the exam or demonstrated skills. There is no minimum hours to Solo. as an example At the other end of the scale, no matter what hours you have you must still demonstrate the skills required at frequent times to retain your ability to exercise the Privileges of your license and have recent experience also. Nev
  9. Tastes like crap. Nev
  10. Bert Hinkler also. Timor to Darwin is where the weather can be challenging. Nev
  11. It's obvious this fellow could FLY. HE was probably one of the few "naturals" out there. ANY controllable, heavier than air THING with a useable Lift/ drag ratio is a plane in my book. The "Weather" WAS the Factor here. . He even managed to fly in cloud for a while. Someone would have had to Physically restrain him and how could that Happen in a real situation? AS an Instructor I would only rarely touch the controls ALL that stuff should be covered before the flight. at the BRIEFING. I would take over ONLY IF I had to . Nev
  12. Yeah they don't flog them as much as the Blokes. I'm easier on machinery than my wife is . Nev
  13. All these budding Lawyers. You are missing your calling. His girlfriend KNEW he was unsafe and knew he was going to fly that day. Nev
  14. Wouldn't you check with a meter? Nev
  15. Are you all tending camp? Nev
  16. Aren't we assuming it WILL go to a prosecution? We can be rightly concerned about the costs so far but a few people here are not without a vested interest in This affair IF proceedings are not happening , then it's another matter. WE don't know yet (as far as I know) but only then will some people be free to elaborate if they wish to. I just believe in the fair go for everybody on such occasions. I'm not against free speech if that's a coming accusation. It's been used before. Nev
  17. Just telling you the LAW. This site doesn't belong to you.. Nev
  18. Passing over a non controlled aerodrome at any height above 2500" AGL will not interfere with the circuit traffic. A designated training area can be a different matter. Overflying should take account of aircraft descending on track to enter the circuit, but you must also consider traffic in and out on other tracks. Nev
  19. People are entitled to the Presumption of Innocence until charged and proven guilty. Let's just allow that shall we? Nev
  20. Nickel will always be in demand. Sulphur is easily supplied by the Oil refining Process. Usually Crude oil is about 7% Sulphur. Sulphur when burned S02 is really bad for making acid rain, . H2S is rotten egg gas. H2S04 is Sulphuric acid. Nev
  21. THE ONCE USUAL STOP WATCH HAS MANY USES. Nev
  22. Arthur Butler did it in a Comper Swift powered by a Pobjoy Cataract. VERY small aeroplane. Nev
  23. Ah. That Insoluble Fibre. Great Stuff. Nev
  24. Cannon Plugs etc. Have to be made of the right stuff. . Nev
