  1. Most would not employ it. I would agree with that.. In wartime you only got told the minimum and It's gone downhill from there. UNLESS you seek out these things. You should know STALL is an angle of Attack, not a pitch attitude. Nev
  2. I would be disappointed if Instructors are not aware of that.. Nev
  3. Go to their last bit of advice. Get in touch with your instructor. What was demonstrated there was very basic and obvious. Generally discussion on line creates more confusion. IT should be called the unforgiving turn, which they sensibly have. Nev
  4. The caster you want can be designed into either Leading or trailing links . Earles forks are used a Lot on Motorcycle outfits and they are very much Leading link.. The mass is towards the rear of the steering axis. Nev.
  5. Headwind makes a big difference to height/ distance relationship on climb out. Many turn backs result i loss of control. Shallow bank angle reduces the chance of getting back. Don't learn how to do this on U tube.. Nev
  6. Fastest Piston engine is service at the time. They flew in Korea.. Nev
  7. I wonder if any of the top RAAus people have either. THEY pretty much ALL did when the AUF became the RAAus..Nev
  8. Maybe he hasn't flown a Thruster or Drifter and doesn't know what he's missing out on. Nev
  9. In the 60's the DH82 Was removed from being classified as an initial training aircraft. You could still teach spins aeros and t/w endorsements. Nev
  10. The VC 10 was called the "IRON DUCK". Nev
  11. The feel of the Plane, It's controllability, look and sound are all part of the aura. IF you're aim is to get to places and back ON TIME use a Jet and even they are delayed by weather sometimes.. Nev
  12. A GEE BEE goes fast enough. On larger planes the drag would be similar All cylinders are the same Bottom end is more complex so is ignition timing as the stroke is not the same in all cylinders.TBO is comparable with anything else. Reduction gear is sun and planetary Thats the best. Nev
  13. Learn in something similar then off you go for Pt 103 or just teach yourself (which I don't recommend). With a bit of experience you'll manage it. Nev
  14. A Cam Ring is used in most of them. Sleeve valves have their own special problems. It's a wonder they work at all. Nev.
  15. Short crankshaft and the Big end is lightly loaded in cruise. Even length intake pipes and easier to cool and supercharge It's a completely different feel and SOUND.. Downside. A bit hard to oil scavenge. That has to be done right.. Nev
  16. Great instability in the Auto world. .You'd be surprised at the other alliances out here. Nev
  17. Sleeve valve motors have trouble cooling the heads. Nev
  18. Chrysler isn't It. Fiat is made by Chrysler. . GM pulled out of Fiat.Nev
  19. They have the capacity NOW. Remember when JAPAN car wasn't much..? It's ALL much more high tech now. Trouble is if you don't watch they will cut corners. There's a lot of Chinese Parts in makes you wouldn't be aware of. Anyhow, how good is a JEEP/?
  20. It might be better to see why it's hot. The Motor is new isn't it? Check the gauge. Is the motor tight at all.? Climb at a faster speed. When the engine is shut down does it bounce off compression as it stops.. Does it have Blowby? Nev
  21. Some Race Car engines were designed for 3,000 Kms. Big trucks for much longer. What's t he point of even a 500 hour drone engine. It could be designed for a never to be rebuilt situation saving weight and cost. Nev
  22. China's doing alright isn't it? Nev
