  1. What proof have you got that French IQ has been reduced by lead? America’s aerospace and computer industries were mainly based in high lead California and were making astounding advances after and during the time of the big lead burning cars. Me-thinks yer off with the red herrings..😉 Again, like most things, the dose is the issue. .
  2. Who are the “people who know these things” ?..🤨 Glacier are not static entities. They is either growing or shrinking. A good snow dump for a few years up top could take fifty years to come out the bottom as glacier ‘advance’ - and the reverse of a few low snow years later expressing as glacier ‘retreat’. .
  3. Yes, and yes. Do a Trove search. Considering it is an Australian based newspaper etc history site there is a surprising amount of news from around the world. .
  4. The thread is about the global warming loons wanting to get rid of private jets. Yer don’t think that’s relevant to an aviation forum ?…🤨 As to the sh*t stirrers. Can somebody tell them that Trump is no longer the president. Ron DeSantis is the new man on the block..😉 Back to jets and things…
  5. Via ATSB report: I see the aircraft had done 2 check run circuits over the drop zone prior to the actual drop. Prudent way to get a feel for the turbulence as well as scout out the fire. The check runs almost cover the same actual ground track each time. On the drop run the aircraft finished up on a track further south of the check runs. This put the aircraft in an area that they had not previously flown relative to the terrain induced turbulence. My thoughts are the wind effect from the little valley upwind of the crash site, and the wind effects from the little hill the aircraft crashed on, would have combined to create a little mini jet stream (Flume) of wind creating the increasing tail wind shear which caused the aircraft stall. On a clear day the pilots would have noted the wind shear ‘possibility's’ from the valley, though in the smoke it would not have been so obvious. .
  6. Hmmm… California is the state with the highest number of cars. They voted for senile Biden…🤨 Must be a lot of stupid people in France. WW1 left a lot of lead laying about… “…Alarming amounts of lead debris scattered by shrapnel were also left in place, contaminating the soil with non biodegradable lead, mercury and zinc likely to remain for at least 10,000 years to come…” https://www.messynessychic.com/2015/05/26/the-real-no-go-zone-of-france-a-forbidden-no-mans-land-poisoned-by-war/ .
  7. If yer hadn’t noticed, its in the news every day. The subject is very ‘topical’…😉
  8. My point….. 99.999% of the engines using lead have gone. In the scheme of things the lead emissions of aircraft engines is feck all. I mention the natural occurrence of lead found all around us in the environment to counter the ill-considered argument that getting rid of avgas will mean zero exposure to lead - it won’t. .
  9. The article covers events spread over many hundreds of years so may very well have covered what it referenced as “volcanic phenomena” At other times there is reference to smokey smelling fogs. “…In 1557, after a very hot July, August, and September, thick, ill smelling fogs made their appearance…” https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/101449843 .
  10. Meanwhile… One of global warmings chief hysterics forgets his polo gear… “…Prince Harry was spotted arriving at a Santa Barbara airport in an electric Audi SUV, before boarding the $9 million Bombardier Challenger 600 on Wednesday…” But he forgot something… “…spent half an hour in the jet on the ground, with the engines idling, waiting for the Polo gear he left behind to be delivered in a black Range Rover…” 🤨……..🤔……😂 https://wattsupwiththat.com/2022/08/29/royal-hypocrite-climate-warrior-prince-harry-flew-in-a-private-jet-then-waited-for-the-car/ .
  11. “Based on science”. …Just like in the movies. Based on a true event..😉 .
  12. Lead: terrible stuff in excess, though so is water. Re the video: I’d question the claim of lack of lead in the worlds oceans prior to leaded fuels. Lead is a naturally occurring mineral found in deposits all over Australia and the world. In Australia lead is naturally found in creeks and rivers that flow to the ocean. Lead is found in the dust blowing across Australia and in the smoke of bush fires. Lead is naturally found in a lot of bore water. Go swimming at the beach and lead can be found in sea spray. Aviation’s input into Australia’s overall atmospheric lead levels would be feck-all. .
  13. As an example: Most Lycoming O360’s can get a simple log book entry sign-out STC for using Mogas. At this time Continental 550’s can not use mogas. Nothing to do with the fuel suppliers. One of the main aircraft engine rebuilders in Oz has been finding a lot of problems in Robinson R22’s with the reduced lead content of the so-called 100LL. The lead content has been reduced in recent years being replaced with aromatics. .
  14. Well, looks like it is time to fight the global warming religion idiocy that is causing these problems… .
  15. Somerset UK eh..🙂 Kilcoy (QLD) is in the Somerset Council area. Looks like Europe is due a real BIG fire. Here’s a report from the 1880’s of smoke that you could barely see the sun through and covering from the UK through Italy: https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/101449843 .
  16. “…The second recommendation is that Coulson fit windshear detection systems to their C-130's to assist aircrew to manage their aircraft handling. Whether this will happen remains to be seen (cost VS benefit), and whether the fitment of windshear detection equipment to the C-130's is of major advantage when flying fire missions at extremely low altitude in extreme weather, in mountainous terrain conditions, and in mountain wave/rotor conditions, along with poor visibility,…” Via the ATSB report: Coulson point out that in the very dry atmospheric conditions experienced at many fires the wind shear detection systems likely would not work all that well. Compared to the ‘set-piece’ of an airliner on a final approach to a large runway, I’d wonder about the value of a sheer detection system in the dynamic fire bombing environment of constantly changing heading and altitude. .
  17. Yep. Trump got elected on a platform of getting rid of the corrupt and senile “elite ruling class”. Dunno how keen he were on the follow through, though he got turfed out before much happened. Now the US has got a senile President who seems to spend all his time at Camp David trying to channel some ‘West Wing’ inspiration, 😏 and a Vice President who is off to visit Vietnam....🤨 .
  18. Hmmm... a “spiral out of control” 🤔 ...I thought a plateau had been reached...😏 I guess the all-cause rates will show the reality. Seems every few years... “...2017-2018 influenza epidemic is sending people to hospitals and urgent-care centers in every state, and medical centers are responding with extraordinary measures: asking staff to work overtime, setting up triage tents, restricting friends and family visits and canceling elective surgeries, to name a few...” https://time.com/5107984/hospitals-handling-burden-flu-patients/ .
  19. If you know yer got the ‘B’ grade product though want to keep yer-self in the ‘game’ ...What do you do..🤔..😏 .
  20. Seems AstraZeneca also has a bridge fer sale in Sydney harbour..😏 “...AstraZeneca’s chief executive, Pascal Soriot, said last month that “at some point in the future” the company would raise its prices, adding: “We cannot be a non-profit forever, but we will never intend to make large profits.”...” “We will never intend to make large profits” Gawd, I love it...😂 Buy now, pay later... https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/aug/11/covid-19-vaccines-the-contracts-prices-and-profits 😂😂😂 .
  21. I have long been a supporter of people who have some severe and untreatable condition being able to try whatever novel and unapproved treatment they desire. Their body, their choice. As to the current China virus. It is now fairly well documented just who is likely to have serious problems if they get the virus. If you determine that you are an at risk individual then the vaccine seems to me to be an acceptable risk even though we don’t know the long term effects of the vaccines. I do not believe I am currently in the at risk category so will not be getting vaccinated at this time. Most, not all, of the people I know who have had the vaccine didn’t seem to care if I had the vaccine or not. The ones who wanted me to have the vaccine seemed to be caught up in the ‘all must be vaccinated’ hysteria and came across as the piss in pants type. I guess the way to justify their terror is to ensure all get the vaccine..😏 .
  22. “...Afraid and anxious...” Heh, that’d make a good bumper sticker fer me 190 horsepower Ducati Panigale (Motor bike) While I’m thinking of vehicles, it reminds me of the Pangale’s first service. Bit longer then normal due to a recall notice they needed to attend to. Then there’s me near ten year old Hiace van. I only recently had a recall notice attended to after a couple of years of reminders from Toyota. Legal liability must be a real pain fer them car manufacturers, if only they were in the business of selling vaccines. So much easier...🙂 .
  23. Sad day. Due to the debris spread it looks like the wings separated well before the crash.
  24. 🤔 I am still in the middle of reading the posts and posting my reply’s. Some posts I have read just now will require further research before I can ‘fully’ attend to them..😎 .
  25. The last time I had me tetanus booster shot I knew it were well proven and I did not believe it to be a rushed experimental shot that the manufacturers will not provide without full legal indemnity... .
