eightyknots
Not bad 80K. Did you make that yourself? Nev No, I came across this illustration on the web. facthunter
Somebody owns it I presume. I'm not into computer graphics, but that looks OK to me. I did some art work and sculpture as a callow youth and even did a 3 wall long mural at Teacher's College. That was a challenge, as the people I depicted had to be recognisable for who they were or the effect would be zilch. (0 out of 10). ( Probably helped to reduce my pass marks because it wasn't too flattering of the people concerned). Another lose/lose situation that only a fool would offer to do. .Evan.
Mine is just some silliness. I borrowed the idea from a pic I saw with a Thruster in a similar position. It made me laugh. It's what happens when boredom and Photo-chop meet! Also, I used it for my FarceBook avatar - some guys in an international aviation group started working out the improbable maths behind it! Nerds!
facthunter
I've seen the thruster one. Yours is fine too ( if almost as unlikely). I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I would rather not have something that irritates me ( and maybe others). Avatars are a personal thing. I am not much into personal imagery and a significant shift to being concerned about it is not likely. I value integrity because it's necessary, you can't buy it, and I value it in all my friends, and it is lost easily. ( Bit of thread drift there? Maybe not.) eightyknots
These pictures are some recommendations (among many others) that came up when I used a search engine for "eighty knots". Er, now... ...which one shall I use?? I welcome your suggestions

( Bit of thread drift there? Maybe not.) Nev I wouldn't put something that irritates me, nor something that would purposefully irritate anyone else. I can replace it if it offends your mathematical sensibilities, FH. I value integrity. I also value a bit of a giggle every now and again. That's not a bad thing, is it? facthunter
Must be some confusion there, Evan. I'm not having a shot at anybody. I was explaining why I haven't selected a personal Avatar (for Me) yet. I respect everyone's right to do their particular thing in this regard. . .Evan.
My apologies Nev. I may have read a little too much into it as you were speaking to me and then to everyone within the one paragraph.
facthunter
Hard to get the meaning clear sometimes, without being very labourious with every word. Thanks Evan.. Nev
eightyknots
Bottom RHS. Nev Thanks for your recommendation FH. The only problem is that, by the time it is reduced to "avatar-size" the eighty knots are just about invisible. I've adopted the NYNA principle for 2012: (New Year, New Avatar) ...perhaps others will do the same?
