Treasurer’s resignation

Admin

Recommended Posts

After many years of service to both the AUF and RA-Aus, Myles Breitkreutz has resigned his positions as RA-Aus Treasurer, and South Queensland board member, indicating that he wished for both resignations to take immediate effect.

Myles has decided not to contest the upcoming election in order to pursue other options, and to also allow other members the opportunity of representing the region. We at RA-Aus wish Myles all the best for the future and thank him for his many years of service to the organisation.

Board members have now been invited to nominate for the vacant Treasurer position (nominations closing 5 p.m. EST Friday, June 7th ).

Looks like the executive members agree that the organisation is better off without them, pity they didn't fess up at the February meeting and step down with dignity, would have put us six months closer to being healed.

Maybe four months nearer, just re-read my post.

A sad day for the RAA to loose such a talented treasurer and a hard working representative.gangnam.gif.007997afc91fff9e44056d93617435e4.gifgangnam.gif.c0df6d7542320342b48c9740dae6e11e.gifgangnam.gif.007997afc91fff9e44056d93617435e4.gifgangnam.gif.c0df6d7542320342b48c9740dae6e11e.gifgangnam.gif.007997afc91fff9e44056d93617435e4.gifgangnam.gif.c0df6d7542320342b48c9740dae6e11e.gifgangnam.gif.007997afc91fff9e44056d93617435e4.gifgangnam.gif.c0df6d7542320342b48c9740dae6e11e.gifgangnam.gif.007997afc91fff9e44056d93617435e4.gifgangnam.gif.c0df6d7542320342b48c9740dae6e11e.gifgangnam.gif.007997afc91fff9e44056d93617435e4.gifgangnam.gif.c0df6d7542320342b48c9740dae6e11e.gifgangnam.gif.007997afc91fff9e44056d93617435e4.gifgangnam.gif.c0df6d7542320342b48c9740dae6e11e.gifgangnam.gif.007997afc91fff9e44056d93617435e4.gif

So why did Myles take over as the long term treasurer (replacing the openly temporary Michael Apps), if he resigns a month or two later? That doesn't make sense.

I am also a little tired of the "politicians reasons" for every resignation... "spend time with grandchildren" (Tizard), "family pressures" (Runciman), "pursue other options" (Breitkreuz). In Steve Runciman's case, this is probably very true, but why would anyone who cares about RA enough to take on a board role, quit simply to do something more interesting (as in"pursue other options") when RA is in serious trouble?

So what is going on? We only get platitudes from RA, as ever,

One more biggy to go!....come on..he can do it...

Only one 'B' Boy?? I can immediately think of two more of the old boy's club who need to go home and enjoy their grandchildren, or their dog or anything! Think of the piece of mind they'd get in not having to worry about how they were going to blame other people, circumstances, met conditions, Canberra's dirty footpaths or whatever else for the bloody mess they got us in. Bye Bye Breitkreutz!

The other is not a biggy, I feel sorry for him as he went once and thought he was needed and came back. That will die a natural death...

Let it go folks.........it's the system that's let us down. A new board and leadership that recognises both governance and management will see us out of the mess but we need professional assistance to separate the two.

To my mind the state/territory based board has reached it's use-by-date and some form of regional forums based on our regional clubs should be established to inform the board. Surely we have the capacity to vote in a Board if the CV's of potential members were published.

It's critical that RAAus is driven by the strategic thinking of its collective regional members, processed by a board with the necessary governance skills, and managed by a CEO who has the full control over RAAus staff.

Cheers

Myles obviously felt that it was time for him to move on ... too spend more time with his family.

you are pretty happy to say and do nothing, is that how we make necessary changes? I am happy to put my head on the chopping block. I bumped into you a few times you just haven't realised who I am.

The best indication that things are truely on the mend will be come when we start getting real communication from the association, for more than ten days after it is promised, while the management continue to keep the membership in the dark, or fed on bull, we can safely assume that nothing has changed, and chaos prevails.

dodo Isn't obvious, he was put up to the job and lacked the courage to say no, then he or his wife found out what he was being liable for signing off those books. Exit stage right...

Probably just one of many possibilities FT. Let's not put it out there as fact without evidence to support it.

Bandit, I doubt that Myles volunteered to be the Treasurer, if he did he wouldn't be jumping ship so soon. My guess is that Steve leaving is viewed by Myles as a betrayal of his trust. Without that shared commitment he wouldn't feel any loyalty to the board or the RAA.

Hi,

Pete I agree with you. I was involved with another National organisation that "governed" it's self into the ground. We got a new (smaller) management team at National HQ and a very small State team(3) and every club/training facility had a rep that put up all the members concerns/requests to the State group the state HAD to take them to the National level within 14 days (a SOP)and National addressed the issues with the regional rep directly. The old "distance thing" was settled by National providing all State reps with a lap top and any club/ training facility that did not have one plus a dial up account everyone of the reps could use to contact/email National admin and get updates through as well. Yearly registrations were done via State reps, all memberships were bar coded for ease of transfer and member registrations were all paid with money orders only.

This group pulled it's self out of the muck in 4 years from owing money to substantial reserves allowing flyers and promotional stuff to go to everyone of the reps to hang on notice boards, schools, doctors rooms and the like. so I know it works.

Bob.

Myles did volunteer. He was the only one to put his hand up when Michael Apps announced at the Easter Board meeting that he couldn't do it anymore.

Well, I guess it is no mystery now as to why Myles resigned from the Board. Under the Rules, he can't earn money from RA-Aus if he is a Board Member.

You could then ask, which came first, the need to get Myles off the Board or the need for a safety training co-ordinator? Or is Myles ready for a Tizzard style semi-retirement at the members'expense?

As usual, all speculation because we just don't really know what is going on at bullsh!t HQ other than it seems to be on the nose - as usual.
