Please correct me if I am wrong. Wasn't it Douglas Bader who filled his prosthetic metal legs with ping-pong balls in case he had to bail out over water? All went well until he reached a certain altitude over the English Channel and they started exploding, leading him to think he was being shot at.

I've seen a few N's here in Australia, is it cheaper rego or another reason not for not getting a "VH" number.spacesailor

I don't recall paying anything for my VH rego.

If you have a US registered plane in Australia, you have to get an FAA approved engineer to sign off any work done on it. An Australian LAME won't do for the FAA.

Not only is maintenance to be done by a US authorised engineer, but I think you will find that you need a US pilots certificate. Note it is a certificate, not licence.
