BJFly
Hi All, Drifter 55-1810 is now happily gracing the skies around Childers. Bill from Caboolture and Geoff (regular forum member) were good enough to ferry the aircraft up from Caboolture a couple of weeks ago. Since then I have enjoyed 4 hrs of buzzing around the beaches of the Fraser coast and scenic farmland surrounding Childers. How good is a late afternoon flight down the coast watching the sun set. Here's a couple of photos!
dazza 38
I know her well, she used to be owned by a mate of mine and was one line at Airsport Boonah a few years ago.
BJFly
Yep, she would have trained a heap of pilots over the last 5 years. I first came across the aircraft in Gympie a few years ago when I did my endorsement on her. She went from Gympie to Caboolture about a year ago, and is now in Childers and will hopefully continue to serve well!
dazza 38
Yup, when she left Boonah the guys at Gympie replaced all the fabric.

WayneL
Photos of 1810 at Boonah in 2007. Got the digital photos somewhere, these are photos of printed photos hence the poor image quality. I had a lot of fun flying her.

Thanks for posting the photo's, it good to hear and see a bit about the aircraft's history. By the way what type/brand of helmet are you wearing in your member picture? It looks like a good visor that would stop all the microphone wind noise when flying.
Geoff13
If you want a good helmet, talk to me :) I bought one to fly drifters with but no longer have a suitable aircraft.

WayneL
Don't recall what make the helmet is, they are our club use ones. Possibily microavionics. We do have a couple of microavionics helmets with shielded headset and shielding on the lower edge of the face shield but to the neck.
BJFly
Hi All, The Yellow Hornet went for a run yesterday. From Childers over to Pacific Haven for a short visit. Then onwards to Burrum Heads and up the Beach to Woodgate. Nice morning. This is a great way to spot some new fishing spots!
BJFly
The Yellow Hornet ventured to Biggenden on Sat. A group of three aircraft made the trip from Childers. A short walk into town for Coffee & Cake at the local cafe. A good morning was had. Certainly beats mowing the lawn.
BJFly
The Yellow Hornet is back in the air after a mini-makeover. 8 new eye bolts on the Jury struts, new rubber mount for the exhaust, new radiator support brackets and engine serviced. Still a few things to do but had a good flight on Saturday. Here's a couple of shots of the Isis/Burrum River junction and Childers Airfield.

BJFly
Hi All, The Yellow Hornet in company with a Tecnam ventured to Biggenden yesterday for a quick visit to the best cafe in town. I have started playing with a Go Pro. Below is my first effort to provide a link to my u-tube video. Hope it works. Failing that look for "fly with the yellow hornet" in u-tube. BJFly
Hi All, The Yellow Hornet ventured over to Pacific Haven for the Fly-in today. Around 50 people in attendance, 7 aircraft, quite a few drive ins. Bruce organised a cooked breakfeast, coffee & tea. I had the chance to catch up with a few members of this site. Finally got to see Geoff's X-Air Hanuman with the Rotax 912, a very nice machine. Some pics below.
