CASA qualifications applied to RAA

I enquired about doing some of my raaus lessons at Moorabbin last week. I was told to go and get a class 2 air medical before I can fly there. Even though I am raaus. -
Good point. I won't need the Sydney hangar

i can't help with nascar accidents but microavionics make an excellent microlight flying helmet that slips over a standard headset not too expensive , i think 8or900 last time i looked. lots of options with visors etc. mendehlsons in melbourne are agents and do mail order.

if you paid 73k in 1990 it is equivalent to roughly 172k now

If you live in the Perth area it might worth a drive to serpentine airfield if it's still operating. Should be people there that can help.

a common cause of trucks rear ending cars is the car drivers. spend an hour in a truck and watch what they do. no matter how much you try to keep a safe distance cars just keep filling the gap. its getting worse every year in victoria.

i wonder if anything will come out of the school bus crash last week, as in buses getting fitted with seatbelt sensors so kids have to buckle up. people are saying the worst injured kids had not buckled in causing several amputations.

another question for the group. the other day i looked at a bolly prop with quite a bit of wear on the leading edge protection strip from rain . its on an ultralight so it has not been through a lot of rain, it got me thinking how do commercial aircraft which fly through rain a lot protect the props. do they have replaceable leading edge protection or something. this question is only out of curiosity.

they need to be bright orange.

american cabs have not changed much until recently. the old idea of being thrown clear in accident doesn't sound that appealing to me.
-
and the last roadtrain job i had was carting iron ore off a minesite to port, all the prime movers were getting fitted with fluro seatbelts so safety officers could check at a glance that they were being used.

truck drivers have changed the attitude to seatbelts in the last few years. when i started driving no one wore seatbelts , in fact the normal advice was they were dangerous because they trapped you in the cab. absolute load of rubbish, now i don't know anyone that gets in a truck without belting up.

a lot of xairs had brs fitted as an option. i spoke to someone who flew his for 14 years but did not have the brs. he told me that the sink rate of the xair is almost the same as a brs descent so why bother. and try finding somewhere to service the rocket part of the system when its due. just importing a new one is a mission with dangerous goods restrictions these days.

here you go nev, this accident was caused by exactly what you have been talking about.

a friend of a friend used to fly the super conny on the kangaroo route and he could not recall a landing in sydney with all engines working.
