Hmmm. Just a thought. I faxed my proxy in about 2 weeks ago, but was rung up the next day and asked to post the form in as well. Hope that there is no problem with these last minute faxes being accepted....... The young lady on the phone said that a fax wasnt acceptable, even thought it clearly states so on the front of the form.

After a bit of research, I'm going to add a Facet pump (genuine, not a copy) model 40105 to my 582. The pump has a max pressure of 4 psi. I will use it primarily to prime the carbs (thus removing the bulb hand primer), and as a backup in case of failure of the mechanical Mikuni pump. So, will probably use it for take offs and landings as well. Cheers Gerry

And if you happen to fax the proxy form to RAA, be sure to also POST the form to RAA in ACT as well - I faxed my form yesterday, and today had a phone call from RAA, saying I have to post the proxy form in as well. (which sorta begs the question, what's the point of faxing the form in the first place). And, as per Andy@coffs suggestion, for the second proxy, it is recommended to put down the “Chairman of the meeting”. There must be a chairman even if elected before the meeting commences. For Address I would put RAA HQ address in Canberra….

Hang about.... I am really missing something here. What legal threat is there to close this site? Has ANYONE (besides perhaps Ian) seen an actual threat/solicitors letter/tea leaf reading from the RAA board, CEO or maintenance man??? Under what grounds could this site be closed??? I suppose serious defamation could cause an apology to be made (along with lots of cash) and posted on the front page, but I seriously wonder how the RAA could cause this site to be closed. I ask after re-reading this thread, and while there seems to be a lot of what ifs, supposition, and plain guess work, the facts seem to be very light on the ground.

Have a look at this site for example from University of Colorado re sea level rises. Then all the naysayers (deniers, if you wish) may wish to point out all the obvious flaws in data gathering, all the data that has been hidden (oh really? a read of the last 2 years of Scientic American (an oxymoron for a large proportion of American Republicans) will give you enough information to scare the pants off you re global warming. Geeze, there is so much being published in peer reviewed, respected publications, that anyone who doubts the evidence (no, not the ALan Jones variety) of climate change has their head firmly stuck somewhere the sun dont shine.

One thing I am unclear about. The bylaws talk about action by the Board. Is this "reluctance" to readmit Ian an action by the full board, or just by the president of RAA?? From reading the bylaws, it must be a board decision. Under what authority can a president take this action? Surely, a unilateral decision by the President has no authority in this scenario.

Just replacing all existing fuel lines on my Streak Shadow, and interested in peoples ideas. The current system draws fuel from bottom tank (under cockpit) thru a filter, into a primer squeeze bulb, thru to mikuni pulse pump driven off the Rotax 582, into twin carbies. So, fuel is drawn from below engine, and the squeeze bulb is just used for priming. Question 1: I was thinking of putting a second line around the squeeze bulb in case the bulb blocked during flight, but seeing as I only use the bulb for priming, would it be better to put a Facet cube pump (in series) in place of the squeeze bulb, as this would: a) allow me to prime from inside the cockpit (lazy, I know), AND b) could be used as an emergency backup for the engine driven pump. NOTE - The primary purpose of the new Facet would be only to prime the fuel lines, and not used after engine start. Question 2. If I use a Facet pump IN SERIES, would it be recommended to use this on takeoffs and landing as well? Question 3. The Streak uses clear plastic tubing as a fuel level indicator for the top tank, which sits below the engine, and also as fuel tank vents. Tubing is rock hard, and need replacing before I fly. Is there a particular (best) brand of clear tubing (about 1/8" internal diameter) I should be using as a replacement? Thanks in advance. Gerry

If you have a current RAA certificate, fully paid up, AND I assume have the correct endorsements, then you and your plane are automatically covered for $10 million third party personal AND property, with the exclusion of your passenger, who is only covered for $250,000. Check the flyer that was in a recent RAA mag from the insurance company who are the appointed RAA brokers. Read paragraph (a). You are even able to get a certificate of currency from their web site if you need it. As I understand it, and I spoke with a broker yesterday, the only insurance you need to purchase is to cover your own aircraft against damage (however you may wish to inflict that), and you may wish to increase your coverage for your passenger. I also assume there are the standard insurance get-outs, such as you wont be covered if you are not RAA legal, perform malicious acts etc

Just bought a CFM Streak Shadow, and want to add / replace a few items. I want to add a guard to my 2 mag switches and main switch - all simple rocker switches. Would prefer a simple fixed design. Can anyone recommend switch guards and where to buy them? Also, what is the best fuel line to buy, and what is the preferred method of clamping the line - I have been told not to use simple hose clamps, as apparently they can cut the line. Also, I'd like to move the EGT and CHT gauges, but there is no free play in the wiring harness to allow them to be moved. Is it OK to just splice extra wire into the existing wiring?? Cheers Gerry

Another couple of Android apps you could look at are - Bearing + Distance AN-NZ - Androzic (uses oziexplorer maps) But I think the major issue for using Android apps for flying is the inability to source the electronic maps since the demise of MapTrax - please someone correct me if I'm wrong

The problem with the button, is that is used to help tie the 5 or 6 pieces that make up a typical baseball cap together. None of the caps in my catalog (over 100) come without the button. However, the button can be removed, and apart from the look of the hole in the top, wont terribly affect the wear or durability of the cap.

Seriously, I have to jailbreak the ipad to use generic (aka ebay purchased) GPS receiver? I dont have an ipad, so didnt have any idea it was restricted like that. Why wouldnt you buy an ipad with inbuilt GPS. Does it have performance/battery/etc issues?

Hi shafs I did one of my nav exercises from Gympie, direct to Kingaroy, and just had heaps of air under the wings. It didnt seem to me (as a rank new pilot) that it was a problem, but I sorta guess that was my inexperience showing through. Will Gympie be your home base? Gerry

Its just an artifact of the way the photos in Google Earth are put together. Something to do with the very slight timing difference between exposures. Fast moving objects can often display these false colour images.

Can I hear tyre squealing as the Connie lands? Perhaps the newsreel guys added it in (maybe it was done on all aircraft landing films) or do the connie's tyres protrude under the aircraft.
