  1. That sounds good, You'll be welcomed by more than just me in the club rest assured.
  2. That's my mates old plane from a few hangar's down. Had a great cruise speed and went well. I really miss seeing it around. Hope it serves you well. I wish now that I had bought that plane instead of building my Sonex.
  3. I'll have to go to spec savers.....I read it again and it does say it stopped.....lol ;)
  4. He doesn't actually say it stopped but hey? I must be missing something.
  5. Sounds like it needs a new oil pressure sender fitted after it gets trailered home.
  6. Would rather have Aerobatic,,,, then could drop my Sonex into RAA ,,keep my RPL current for controlled airspace and happy days....
  7. I can't understand why all browsers don't take credit card also.
  8. Good to know the compasses are coming though. Thanks for the update:)
  9. Sounds like pretty good performance to me ;) You'll be racking those hours up in no time. Same sort of speeds as the Aeropup but a much better climb rate as expected.
  10. That's great :) It should go really well. Brett
  11. I have no idea about the single seat MTOW or that sort of thing. Mine came in at just over 320kg for the two seater. I think a lot of weight is in the wings. 3 x spars and a heap of ribs, throw in a painter like me being a bit eager on the trigger of the spray gun and suddenly kilo's start adding up. I added some wooden floor protection under the seats and also included a cargo bay so that all counts as well. I'd love to fly a single seat version one day just to see how they compair. -Brett
  12. Nope. My one has an Aerovee so Id say yours as a single seater and a Jab engine should have quite a nice climb rate and cruise. Just out of curiosity what do the single seat jab powered supapups weigh in at?
  13. Ive flown my Aeropup for 70 hours and about 150 landings.... flies almost like a skyfox. .. has a better view over the dash though when the flaps deployed. Easy to fly and land.
  14. I wouldn't be surprised if it never comes out and jab's suddenly start coming out with a UL power motor or something... I have no idea though but just a feeling.
  15. Ooouuuccchhhhhh,,,,,, don't hold back next time....
  16. I was having a conversation with a mate yesterday that said he saw an announcement on the Camit engine page about the Aeropup and Camit engine now being the supported standard engine. CAE 2200 now standard on Aeropup Is local manufacturing up and running again? For parts and sales? Just as a side note, and I guess it doesn't matter, but I thought that particular plane in the pic was a 912 powered one. -Brett
  17. Did anyone notice if there were any new products from Dynon or Mgl during the show? Sometimes they wait till airventure to release new products.
  18. Great post Mick, I myself wouldn't really know how the magazine has been going as since it has gone digital I haven't bothered.
  19. -No trailer -yes it's registered - finalisation work listed in my message regarding painting cowl etc. It really seems to confuse people with that statement so I should just find time and do it. - I need to do the 100 hourly before I can fly it again and waiting on compass.
  20. My plane is still for sale. I must admit I haven't been trying very hard to sell it. I still need to paint my cowling and replace some fuel lines. I also need to do the 100 hourly before it can fly again as it's now due. I'm waiting on a compass from Ian on this site and will do the service when that arrives. But have a think about this http://www.recreationalflying.com/threads/aeropup-for-sale.139813/ I would like to do a few other mods long term but I have been struggling for time. Open to offers as I'm now flying my other plane and insuring both.
  21. That's partly true about the costs Yenn. I have built in both RAA and SAAA. I have just paid my insurance now for the VH plane and the insurance is an extra $700 a year for the same value plane due to having to have liability insurance for a VH plane. Liability insurance comes with your RAA side of things. So the RAA costs per year are significantly cheaper by my calculations.

    Sonex first flight

Yep new coil and have flown it twice since. Flies nice and yes the performance is significantly higher ;) Struggling somewhat with temps however on the new engine.

    Sonex first flight

Hi all, Just had to shamelessly post this here. I had a first flight in my second homebuilt and am still pretty much over the moon. The new Turbo Aerovee in the Sonex has some fantastic performance. I can't wait to really see what this plane can do. -Brett
