  2. Mate of mine over here has a L39 that he uses for joy flights. I was meant to have a crack last year but wasnt very VFR friendly on the day so had to sit out... One day tho.

  5. Since training I use the written checklist in flight after each change of flight condition. I would like a dollar for each time I have picked up something I've missed by using it after I've done my flow. Cowl flaps and mixture are the usual suspects. Now although you can forget to use a written checklist just as you can forget a bumsomething, I think physically having to pick something up and read it is harder to forget. It was SOP at the last company with allot of pilots and from what I know no one there had a gear up. Cant say the same for the current.
  6. Also I select flap entering the circuit area and gear dosnt come down untill 5nm/mid downwind.
  7. The M/KM thing is a joke.. Ive got no idea what a metre is in aviation terms and turn it into NM so i can get a time based guess, can see a min in front? Then I know ive got about 5k visibility. The states is weird also, using statute for visibility.
  8. Dont like the format at all, very hard to read. Could they not have just done a ipad app? I get most of my subscriptions on the iPad now and love it!!
  9. I think its because they have very little options over there apart from tiger country. I fly single engine without a safe option regularly but it isnt by choice, the boss isnt keen on paying for the 2nd engine yet
  10. Ild be having a close look at the prop on the next preflight. Have had a few occasions now where a new chip would change the harmonics
  11. I would be very surprised if that was the case. Ive never heard of it before and have sat all three levels of met exams.
  12. I've got a really "bad" habit of checking greens just before the flare. I think it's better than the other issue.

  14. Nev I couldn't agree more. I had an ICUS pilot not "let" me put down the gear. I reckon it's about a dozen holes in "the Swis cheese model" that need to line up before your day comes. In saying that there is an amount of guys in our company alone which have done it.
  15. Forgot to put the gear down?? No my time to do that hasn't come yet. There is a large difference between driving and flying , that is traning. You are tought repetitive phase one actions to remove the "oh $h17" factor. Unfortunately the guy in question chose the wrong action. Flew when he should have fought.

  17. Magic! And they fact that anyone on the ground (read CASA) is in a worse position would have a very hard time disagreeing with the PIC. Dont fly in it, keep adequate and approximate separation at all times is my best answer.

  20. So the flight training org has seen some common sense and said that I will be single current, will maybe want to see a circuit or two.
  21. Speaking of part 61, CASA are back up this way next month to try (again) and explain their intent... Would have thought 7 sets of documents would have done that.
