  1. Nope, not except the transponder. All aircraft would require it.
  2. That there is no restriction to RA using class E in the same way all others use it.
  3. I do understand that, to be fair, are they the right aircraft to have operating around busy jet RPT aerodromes? The idea is that ADSB will seperate IFR and TCAS for VFR. As long as they don't go over the top with where they locate it I don't see it being a problem.
  4. It's about lowering class E, class E is non controlled for VFR so wouldn't be an issue apart from the transponder and radio requirements.
  5. As Kaz mentioned, no issues getting JA1, AVGAS is the issue. Yes diesel is the future for conventional aircraft, once everybody catches up with the technology. Electric on the other hand it's the technology that has to catch up.
  6. Just with the picture above, although good, should show the AC that uses VY above the one using VX, as it would be if represented by a period of time. I found a few like that when training and found it added to the confusion.
  7. Unless you use someone's else's, then it just proves one was issued.
  8. As for The CASA...................................... Nah I'll leave that alone:wink: I think you had already covered it here pretty good!
  9. Bob Tait.. By far the best text I came across. And with TEM, I am yet to get a single one correct, luckily I wont see another.
  10. There are a few guys that fly for the other mob around here that still (they are twin drivers) make minimum of 3 calls per circuit, even at night! Irritating as buggery
  11. I agree but for sure but, I would have only had about 200hrs so I doubt I would have given me much trust either!! On the other side of it, I just did a renewal and Mum and Dad visited in Adelaide since I hadn't seen them for a couple of years. Wanted to take them up in a single after the renewal, and they wouldn't do it without a full check-ride.... Made no sense to me, I would have more single hours this year then any of their instructors and wasn't like I was unfamiliar with the area. Would have been a $600 check ride to do a $270 local scenic
  12. I was a CPL, but yea no C210, was after training before I moved west to keep current.
  13. I got checked out at the local aeroclub back home when I was there, was a C172 which I had not flown, and the first Cessna as well. We did about 4 circuits and they wanted to see a departure, was class C, then hey were happy.
  14. It doesn't take 50+ hours to learn to keep the blue side up and the brown side down. The 25% on the ground and transiting isn't wasted. It's all stuff that needs to be learned and be comfortable with, but, only if it's something that the student will actually get use out of. If you want a RA style, CASA licence, probably not required, if you want to be a PPL and be able to fly CTA/Busy aerodromes and faster more complex aircraft then its good experience. But I do agree that it does hurt when .3-.4 each flight that you are paying for is on the ground.
  15. Try again on another day, similar to a disgruntled ex, CASA have a habit of changing their opinions and interpretations. I nearly got grounded this week because of "someone's " interpretation
  16. If it was joint civil/military and some common sense reforms with the curfews at Sydney that were written when operating 7xx-1/200 series aircraft wouldn't it at least remove some pressure for the time being? Also I'm sure there are folk on the North Coast that would love to be able to fly out of Willy. Joint user aerodromes work in QLD/NT, unsure why it wouldn't work there.
  17. One of the best things about the wet season it knowing the aircraft is getting detailed every sector, although the pilots seat does require more regular cleaning
  18. Doesn't seem like much happens in Macquarie street either, more factory units? Maybe a Bunnings and a Harvey Norman?
  19. Most secondaries have little in the way of EFATO areas, a friend of mine had a partial engine failure luckily at night at YPPF but luckily turned it around from 200'. She knew turning around wasn't the "right" thing to do but, didn't like the idea of an unexpected visit into someone's bedroom. Not a nice thought but unfortunately sometimes reducing the fatalities would be the only option, worked out in the end for her.
  20. Would a set of D's make them double D's?
  21. We speak with our local met office regularly, they often call us when it's going to be a marginal day and let us know what they think might happen if it deteriorates below what has been forecast. Top blokes.
  22. I thought K would have been "ok" while Z would be the ducks nuts..?
  23. My vote is for D, D comes after C so must be better...
  24. Just to use SARTIME as another example which I imagine most would use? Could you imagine the headaches and mistakes of trying to sort out times of arrival local for Flightwatch? Plus half the time I doubt they would even know which state Waikikamaucow would be in..
