  1. Hang on Pow, We want you here so you ain't excluded alright? Gotta say though that I fear the rag and tube end of the spectrum (my end) may get lost in the hurly burly noise of the high performance aircraft and extra privileges (CTA?) we have acquired and will continue to acquire. I voted for no split - just one organisation is enough. Pud
  2. Thanks Ozzie, I enjoyed that Pud
  3. There is a "Readymix" logo just North of the highway out around Balladonia on the Nullabor. I'll see if I still have the co-ordinates - you can see it on Google Earth. Found it.. 32.14.05 S 125.19.35 E Pud
  4. Any progress results Exadios? I will be passing the airfield at Narrogin tomorrow morning so I might call in. I'll be in a late model Toyota Hilux SR5 charcoal in colour so give me a yell if you see me Exadios. Pud
  5. I reckon you are correct David - and they will continue to 'fly under the radar' unless they do something like the pilot on Lake Hume. But how would you know unless you asked them directly if they were certificated or not. The aircraft is a bit different because you could ask where the registration plastic card is. That's if you were on their property. Out here in the wild west I don't have a problem with unlicenced and/or unregistered aircraft as such where the pilot operates on his own patch of dirt - remember a patch of dirt out here can be 10s of thousands of acres. I do have an issue if, like the guy on Lake Hume, the uncertified pilot starts venturing further afield and doing beat ups or buzzing people. Pud
  6. Seen it before but pretty funny, and I agree with what he's saying. I must sharpen up those circuits next time I'm out. Pud
  7. You have to wonder what his thought processes were.... At the risk of sounding crude, he needs to be taken out the back of the hangar and hit over the head with a tyre lever! Pud
  8. Hang on??? What are we talking about?
  9. Hard question Yenn. I haven't really thought about impressing anyone with my flying, just like being 'up there' so I don't care if it's impressive or not! One thing I will say though - when I get to fly in to a flyin, I want to be able to not embarrass myself with the landing, 'cos you know everybody will be watching and give you a rating - hell I do, and discuss each landing with my mates!! So, I'll just stick with the Thruster and try to fly 'solidly'. Pud
  10. Front page of the forums here turbz, right side of the screen. Pud
  11. Congratulations flyerme, awonderful feeling flying your own Thruster eh? I think we get a bit paranoid about wind direction and speed when first taking a new, unfamiliar aircraft for a flight - especially a Thruster which can be a handful and prone to groundloop if you aren't 'on it'. When I took my Thruster to her new home on my mate's farm at "Wirraway" North Gabbin the wind was from the West around 5kts. I landed on 28 which has a downhill component, then took off on 28 to do some familiarisation of the area. I landed on 10, 24 and 28 - left out 06 for no other reason than I wanted to land and have a talk:smile: Always took off on 28 though to take advantage of the head wind and downhill component. Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that once you are familiar with your Thruster, light winds shouldn't be any problem at all, and varying wind direction indications from different wind socks should be no cause for concern in such light wind conditions. 12. Thanks rdarby, I'll check them out. Pud
  13. "All Quiet on the Western Front" was given to me for Christmas by my daughter. I've just finished reading it. It is written from the point of view of a young German soldier and, although a work of fiction, sets out the mind numbing senseless carnage and hopelessness that must have been every soldier's lot in World War I - no matter which side you were on. A good read but harrowing as well. Pud
  14. What you are looking for is a Bettsometer. The attached pdf has a link to a supplier in the UK - look under tools in the 'shop'. You could try the shop here- send Ian (Admin) a PM and he will tell you if he can supply or not. SB-007 Issue1 Bettsometer.pdf SB-007 Issue1 Bettsometer.pdf SB-007 Issue1 Bettsometer.pdf
  15. Welcome sp500 and good to see you had a safe landing on our aircraftpilots landing field. Tell us a bit about yourself - where are you based, your flying experience etc. We're pretty inquisitive here!! Umm, sp500 sounds familiar - you haven't been a member here before have you? Pud
  16. I always yell "Clear the propeller" and have a damned good look around before pressing the starter switch. It leaves me cold just thinking about that lethal weapon spinning around out the front, and barely noticeable, and the consequences for anyone (and me!) if they were to tangle with the prop. Now I have moved my Thruster to a remote farm strip where in all probability I will be the only one around most times, the challenge will be in not forgetting to make all procedural calls, including radio. I have already noticed I am getting a bit slack. Pud

Ain't life a joy when you have an aircraft to fly about. Pud
  18. Perhaps we need retractable spats that can be activated same time as flaps. Don't ask me how they would operate, where they would be stowed, or anything else for that matter. I just came up with a numbskull idea - up to you guys to figure it out!!! Can it be done? Pud

Hey Tex, I'll let you off with the measurements on the strength of those great photos. Awesome!!! Pud
  20. I wondered if it was a surveillance camera as it didn't follow the aircraft after it lifted off. Pud

Beautiful Tex! I do like your new prop and hub assembly, and those cone type air filters. I notice you don't have EGT probes attached, do you still need to install them or are you going without? What are the dimensions of your radiators as they seem a bit larger than mine? Pud
  22. The one above you!! Pud
  23. I have a similar story Frank. Christmas Eve, very excited, in bed, pitch black, heard a noise and sat up in bed. There he was in the doorway in full living colour. Then before my eyes he slowly faded away, I rubbed my eyes and then it was morning. Sure enough, at the bottom of the bed were all the goodies but I wasn't surprised. I'd seen him with my own eyes. Also a true story. All the best for the festive season everyone, and party hard eh? Pud
  24. Are you in the competition Exadios? If you are I might come to Narrogin to try and put some pressure on - you know, spectators!! Pud
