  1. A good bright landing light is a must fit and use (in my opinion and experience), plus its good for taxi just on dawn to light up ground in front while taxing to the runup area. Best for safety to fit one or two landing lights for this reason. (Recent collision at Oaks is an example where maybe a bright landing light may have changed things. I'm not saying either aircraft did not have a landing light lit. Just that they will enhance your visibility in a variety of sky conditions and cloud backgrounds.) I have an Aveo landing light on mine for these reasons. Have a look at some local airfields were RAA aircraft land and see what they have and how they look.) Your choice and Cheers.
  2. Aircraft Spruce in Melbourne will have it.
  3. Foxbats can be $240k and $120k second hand, info from Foxbat about 3 weeks ago. I forget the price of a new Jab 230 but over $150k from memory. Factory built Nynja is about $135k (includes freight and duty) Prices are getting up there.
  4. Should be a cold beer or two in there that you put in fridge and have when the jobs done. Cheers and nice to here its going up for those flying out your way. Hopefully I'll get over that way one day.
  5. Thanks mate, had been on the to do list for a long time; but inconvenient to remove for a few days so always had been put off until another time. Mainly being slack. Always had a lexan one but it got a crack in it. Glad it's done now. Merry Xmas and enjoy the festive season. Cheers.
  6. Been doing a bit of mod to the Nynja over Christmas while the rain is on and while helping Ben with his wing tanks and 600 kg upgrade. Just increased the lower cowl lip to create a low pressure area to assist cooling air flow. For a few years had a 30mm lip in lexan and now made a permanent 46mm lip with epoxy and mat. The 30mm was a good improvement in keeping temps down at maximum rpm. (Don't fly max rpm cruise often but will be good for long continuous climbs.) See how this goes and can always trim back to 30mm it needed.
  7. Only possible if birds were ducks on opening day of the hunting season🙃
  8. Nice Spats.
  9. Hi, any members planning to attend the Old Station Flyin (YOSN, West of Gladstone, Queensland) please consider posting on this topic and include an image of your aircraft so members can look out for each other and catchup during the event for a Tea, Coffee or Beer etc even a punch-up to settle any past disagreements🙃🤪 (Joking of course). Just an idea and see if it works. Reason for early post is that some may need to plan the trip and time off. Cheers and Merry Christmas to all. Best regards Mike
  10. Great news; enjoy flying your bird. Cheers and Merry Xmas.
  11. In Queensland you could go fishing to get food; only family household members allowed on the same boat, heaps went fishing so heaps of driving done.
  12. Just added photos.
  13. The only flight activity at Palmyra airstrip YPYA yesterday was the Mighty Ducks squadron.
  14. Spirit of Kittyhawk is getting wing tanks fitted. Owner Ben has been keen for them and we were waiting on the thicker three hole aft wing bracket to go with the thicker and beefed up front bracket. The rear bracket is optional for the 600kg upgrade but I got a set to put in my Nynja and got a set for Ben. Weather is for ducks up here so not missing any flying. Made a bracket to spread the wing tubes and works a treat. Epoxy and mat fill for fuel filler and the two fuel drains no longer needed. Also strengthened flap handle and its mounting tube doubler.
  15. With a drive through for his mobility scooter🛵🤪
  16. This report explains and questions to some extent the method of fitting the fabric and comments about glues. All good info. Atec Zephyr investigation report January 2018 Belgium.pdf
  17. This is one example. Atec Zephyr wing checks Bulletin_2_2016_komplet AJ.pdf
  18. I'll leave it there as your answers are unhelpful for my question. Like you very often do I was asking specific questions about an aircraft you said you are familiar with. I will not follow your apparent disregard for designer factory advice about care for wooden wing and covering. In the past I did with my Skyfox CA21 for example aileron inspection and maintenance. MY present aircraft is my build #19 and I follow manufacture bulletins and advice.
  19. Are you saying that you did not follow / ignored the aircraft manufacture's advice? You have been listed as an agent back when you owned one so thought you would have been a content expert for this model. I'm thinking that the wings on my friends aircraft may possibly have unknown issues with the wing and he will need, in my opinion, to check things out before next flight. These can have serious issues if wings are not checked IAW manufacture.
  20. Skippy still waiting for this info.
  21. Did you advise them its owner build not a factory build?
  22. Wing checks every 10 hours; that keeps on top of things. I have contacted the owner of such an aircraft up here to reassure myself that he knows of these checks. He is a personal friend and would not like hear of a matter that involves not checking the wing, etc. He phones me on a regular basis about his Savannah and other matters.
  23. Yep understand; however who does the MO in Australia or overseas; info for all who own these. Your knowledge about this is appreciated.
  24. Shippy could you detail the checks you did for your Zephyr to comply with the manufacturers periodic and 10 yearly major haul requirements and who did it (available in Australia hopefully). Seems like two 10 yearlys would / should have been done with at least one being in your ownership period. I intend to send an email to the owner up here that has your Zephyr so he is aware of the requirements for the wooden wings for his safe flying (I hope he is aware of such). Thanks in advance for your information.
