  1. I would take a lot of notice of face book page rumors on nukes. Putin is not crazy.
  2. If a supplier of aircraft covering materials treated me like a piece of walking, talking dog s**t when I wanted to buy some stuff from them, and if I handed over a finance type card to pay for what they grudgingly sold me at an astronomical mark-up on the real price in the US (as found easily by inquiry on the internet). And if they then miss-keyed on the card and misplaced a decimal point would I do the *right thing* and alert them to the ridiculous mistake that they may have made... would I? Could I ????? Of course I would. Sometimes accidents happen.
  3. It may be that there was little alternative. ICAO has a network of treaties around the world. Airlines cannot just choose where to fly regardless. I suspect that Dutchroll would know much more about this
  4. With the world warming at its present rate and the unknowable whereabouts of climate tipping points, I think it may be folly to question where human society will be in 300 years.
  5. That one's SpacEX. the internet sat was an Arianne out of Guinea I think. Don
  6. Love the colours of his wing, Flyerme. Say g'day to Patrick from the Kitfox driver. Don
  7. I admire the old lady for showing it as it is. I don't believe that she would be any less of a picture than Phil or any of the rest of us grufties. Don
  8. Any body got a good T300 pod sitting around? Don
  9. As I remember it that one was built by Bobby S and was registered 95:10. A great airplane. Don
  10. Sad news. I enjoyed all of his contributions to this site's conversation. Too few Thruster nuts left...hate to lose a good one Don
  11. Every thing looks better from a couple of thousand feet. Kind regards, Don

Must trust the Rotax. I'm sure I heard somewhere that there are crocs in those rivers!
  13. Not much useful information in them I'm afraid. Not meaning to be disrespectful to the late Tony , just my opinion. Don
  14. 2.58:1 is the common ratio used on Sub EA81's. Regards Don
  15. A major debacle was removing the air navigation component from the price of avgas. This abruptly reduced the price of avgas to less than the equivalent mogas price. Of course, it took less than 18 months for the greedy oil companies to re- inflate the avgas price to previous levels. A huge win for the oil companies.
  16. I think that Dick Smith tried to bring the US FAA culture to Aus. This, of course, was resisted by the bucolic rump resident in CASA since the days of DCA. So what we got instead was a cross between a cow and a duck. Of course it didn't work. Politics 101 Australian style.
  17. Old Kareelah Mate, GG obviously identifies with the 1% elite who feel they are so rich that no ecological event can do them harm. Another way to put it is that he is a troll, a sociopath who delights in stirring us good citizens for his own feeble ego's gratification. Ignore it and it will go away...Poof...
  18. "The road to Basra" will live in infamy as will the assault on the population of Fallujah. I know that its all war but bloody hell!...
  19. What's the use of growing old (and Fat!) if you can't bore the buggers occasionally. I know because I have become a teacher for my sins. Don
  20. Soon to be 9 with the expectation of 12 before something (I don't know what and neither I'm sure does GG but not good I think) tips the balance and Malthus intrudes to right the equation. Don
  21. People in the public eye are always subject to close scrutiny. Dick Smith is a successful entrepreneur. You don't get there by thinking along parallel lines. He produced a fairly balanced documentary on alternative energy sources, shown by the ABC a time back. I've met him and he doesn't have a lot of time for chit chat. But compared to the Packers and Murdochs (and others) he is quite friendly and straight forward.
  22. So many owners have modified their original aircraft to improve the safety, utility and flying qualities over the original design. Mostly this goes unremarked unless the mod results in a failure. I added a turtle deck extending back to the rudder on my Volksplane. This improved airflow over the rudder so well that when i first took off the rudder felt as thought it was locked! Gone was its horrible dutch roll when flying straight and the rudder was actually far more effective at yawing the aeroplane. We are required to placard these machines so that pilots and passengers will know that it is not certified to any standard.
  23. NOT interested in facts...sounds like a chip off the LNP
  24. :ban me please:I once questioned the use of peculiar and very poor English language on the ABC and was told that they liked "the venacular"?!???????? wtf
  25. Isaw a 4 engined Lazair at Narromine years ago. Little beauty!
