I get depressed recalling all the roos , emu's we've hit since we moved to sa , 3 cars one 4 wd written off , insured yes , inconvenience big time !!! Some locals sit on 130+ to avoid , as Dafydd has said . Ive found slowing down gives more time to stop or avoid and since then have had few probs . Good bull bars , side steps . And good high powered spot lights turned slightly out gives the best chance . Other than culling , which you need a permit , or fencing , theres not a lot you can do around airstrips other than keep a good lookout . Mike .

We ve learnt. , buy experience , that the only way to not hit roos in the sticks is to drive slowly when there about 80ks max 60 on dirt , havent hit one since . Doesnt help on the runway though .!

I i recon that the horn is the only option unless you can afford 3 mtr high fence . Now lets do the math , 2 x 1200 , cross strip 2x500 mtr plus 3 ends at 40 mtrs 3.5 kls aprox = $........... ? Plus erection .

On the nkg site , they say to gap to manufactures spec . They say the large gap if for performance ignition systems and to add 004 tho per 50hp over standard , Like wise reduced gap to jab specs .

Yesterday and today fast taxi test getting ready to fly and i noticed rough running on the mag check , Im using iridium plugs and didn't check the gaps , they were about 028 thou , First time I've used iridium plugs NKG , and thought the gap looked excessive , Regapped to 022 tho . all good .

Ive got heapes all year , they are dangerous in the morning & evening , I buz the strip before landing , and taxiing tends to scare them off , They are unpredictable and any council owned strip should be fenced . Emus are just as bad . Ive had to call the wife at times to drive up the strip and scareum off .

Yea thats right , jabiru have always dumped customers that have been rude , disrespectful to staff or management, Ive had 5 jabs and built plenty , So i know that resolving problems had a good outcome , and support from the factory was always top notch . After reading Rods letter , ill be returning the data plate and notify raa . Thats not a problem for me . My advice is be polite , its amazing what doors open . The alternate is not the sort of person i want to be , the worlds full of agro . Mike
