  2. Hi Ron , how are you going . Might pay to ring jabiru , that's how I got my 3300 . It had 770 hours for $ 7000 ran it for 50 hrs then 0 hour ed it I was surprised , as well as jabiru at how good it was inside . X flying school Cost $1200 to rebuild at the factory . Plus the LCH Mike
  3. That's why I paid a professional avionics guy a Lot of money to do it right the first time !! All jokes aside , it doesn't have lipol Mike
  4. W what !! More plumbing ??
  5. Thanks F/M, I think I'll use it in the old land rovers . Thanks for all the info every one . Cheers mike
  6. Yes Vev , that what I'll probably do , The old landrover runs well on it . But I tried mixing up some up for the chain saw & mower but I couldn't get them to start , that's what made me suspicious . The avocet runs alright . It's been sealed and doesn't smell like Rotten egg gas , as I have heard . I don't really want to run the water cooled heads with avgas in the plane ( runs pretty cool , 95 deg ish .) I had planned to start running 95 ulp and shandy a 25% mix of the avgas Thanks for your reply Mike
  7. Be ironic if the w/b told you to put 8 or 9 kgs ballast back in the front .!!??
  8. I would at a guess recon that there'd be a lot , if not the majority of people that fly are more than capable of operating some sort of mobile device or computer .oz r/w Ect. After all it's 2014 not 1995
  9. Gees ... Gees..... Your worse than my wife ... Blo...y bean counters!
  10. Jimmyloud , maybe a strait out 6 cyl jab??? Lol
  11. Ho Howmanytimeshaveitoldyoutouseafullstopattheendofaparragraph.
  12. What are you training in ?
  13. The last time I had a map subscription it cost over $740.00 to set up . It might not be compulsory to use a computer , I phone / tablet , but defiantly cheaper , unless I had to buy these devices just for flying .
  14. Is it still possible to legally fly an aero plane without having accessed a computer ?
  15. Ours is on it way . Great for prototyping , rapidly When I think of how long it used to take to make an air cooled head pattern This is a Magic wand
  16. With the sort of casting techniques and where they could be done is irrelevant . At the end of the day no Aussie engine manufacture is going to foot the bill for tooling that's only viable if your order begins with the number of units In the thousands .( unless it's made in China ) Mike
  17. I I think any idea to get more of the membership involved is good and worthy of a well inflated tyre on the wheelbarrow , keep up the good work. Mike
  18. I just put my auto caps function . On
  19. Fr from memory : Inclusions form from sand or mould particles breaking loose when metal is pored in , porosity is caused buy gases formed by impurities in the base metal or additives . Mike
  20. so I'm assuming that avgas remains usable unless it has been contaminated with water ? I'm also assuming that there is no degradation of the avgas itself ? mike
  21. yes , an effective way of getting funds , but usually the investors are looking for a return . is there gold or cash or valuable cargo on board ?? there was a large helicopter flying around the flinders last year that had a huge antenna cabled underneath about 100 ft below and about at least 50ft dia doing some sort of scanning , it was around for days , could be worth a look . technology in salvage opps is getting used for all sorts of adventures
  22. don't some of the more advanced units have indefinite range ( not battery )with the mobile phone signal?
  23. that's up the top end , I've seen capable units as low as 250.00 to 800.00 ish that will do as good . I've also been paying close attention for a couple of years and what was $ 2 gs then is now around $800 they keep getting cheeper and dare I say better . I guess you've checked e bay & specs. mike.
  24. how much do you want to spend ?
  25. I made the original patterns for the head & crankcase , and the problem wasn't the Australian ally foundries, it was, at the time cheaper to have them cast at the local aluminium balustrade place around the corner ,( at my vocalised disapproval ) . they stuffed the head pattern , and their quality and ability to melt aluminium , well , that's it really , and at about the same time CNCwas coming to a place near you . so ian bent got involved . also at the time rod wanted to keep all the work & contracts local . and at that time ,for casting heads & crank cases , you needed aluminium patterns and shell moulding technique all of which were available in Melbourne , at a price$$$$$.00 cheers mike
