  1. Where did I bag the tec man ?? I'm not trying to get raa to do any thing for me. I'm responding to posts that claim to know the skinny .!
  2. I agree with major maintenance , But what about me needing to adjust a rod end a couple of turns on a jabiru aileron or whatever ?? Seems a bit odd . Mike
  3. No offence don , but I have spoken to him , hence my concern , And any thing daren has to say , I'm prepared to here it from him . As far as ,she'll be be right this time , time will tell . And no ones answered my first concern about developing aviation in remote areas . What , I'm supposed to pay someone's travel every time I need to adjust a rod end ???!!! I think it's time people started thinking about ramifications of knee jerk policy . Gees , it's not Egypt ! As far as what you say about rules , they have to take into account ALL ramifications & either compensate , or make exemptions . Don't forget , rules are not laws . Read my post again .i think you've haven't got my drift , or the consequences of this proposal in relation to mine & similar situations Mike .
  4. Gees , just because 1 nut comes loose & kills 2 people , my condolences by the way , doesn't mean it will happen again any time soon , sure ,AD THE ISSUE , but knee jerk reactions from a change the rules set , is just plain ignorance , and from people that are supposed to be able . & know better . I am constantly trying to develop a product here , and change and try different things , including contol surfaces , so you are now saying that one can't do his own thing , by himself , not able to cunjer up a spare pilot or l2 without a large , large , cost . I for one cannot comply with knee jerk rules that financially burden my business unrealistically. Any way the rate of turnover in raa tec man job , means let's see in 6/12 months .?? And please don't say ring the man and talk . Tried that , it took 3 weeks to get a one on one , and tec man on the other end was so stressed , & talking that fast , I thought to my self , stress burns people out , and that's not good for any one , May be that's why we are going through so many well intentioned folk. And don't tell me he can handle it . No one can , medical fact . Mike
  5. IDE say if you washed the aeroplane 400 or so times , that could do it . But I really think if you want a licence to fly , you'll have to pay for it . Mike .
  6. You would trust to a contract-freight service to deliver your nice new A380 wing .???? I carn't even get a motor delivered interstate without damage !( last insurance job had to be shipped back again ) . That's the reason they look after the fragile stuff themselves . Mike
  7. When you make things idiot proof , Ultimately you end up with less capable folk , Just another example of dictatorship , People in positions of authority thinking & believing they know better . Mike
  8. I give up drinking phill :This is a drink and don't post forum!!?
  9. Hi Bex, what's an : evil TVs Mike
  10. I've taken my " modified " jab engine to be 0 hrd. at the jab fac . They worked on there bits & I worked on mine , no problem , no warranty , Rod , as interesting as ever , looking over your shoulder . Giving advice and asking questions . He thinks it great what people can create from his products , Mike
  11. There was one in Tarree in mid NSW I think it was a Mazda 6 rotary in a jabiru , it was pranged in the test stage , a fuel problem I think . That was about 5 ish years ago
  12. Have you found out yet ? If not give us a call 86484018 I've got a roll in the glass shop Cheers mike
  13. They all get caught sooner or later , Some one will blow the whistle
  14. I agree 100% that a two part inspection is a good safety culture , in my case the closest pilot or l2 is at least $ 120.00 ie. 250 kls round trip away , and working & testing a new design means remove & replace of control surfaces . Often . So I use the next best thing , my wife , who hasn't got a licence , but is pretty handy as an assistant , she pulls the toilet bowl off once a year and cleans the roots out ! She's more than smart enough to check my work as I explain it , Legal ???? I don't know . Safer ? Yes . Mike
  15. Sorry, can you repeat that, I fell asleep halfway through ..... Nobody loves us : not
  16. I agree , I spent a year going around the fly in's circuit with my 14 scale balsa wood model showing & asking any one who'd listen , I spent 19 months full time studying the books & reading part 23 .comparing my design elements with what was required . Asking the right people , The internet was ok , when I could get a consensus , But I think in reality , that any first year aeronautical engineer , should be able to design and build an ultralight aircraft .
  17. Hi , have you joined your local EAA chapter ?? Mike .
  18. Aah , the sound of the other shoe ; Reminds my what my Alien friend once told me , ; lest hope this is the last foot ware to fall.
  19. Hi Phil, Could possibly be next year , or ????,' !!! I'd love to take it over seas , I'd need help at both ends Cheers mike Cheers Mike

  22. No offence bro , but when was the last time you flu into tree at 60 knts. 12 g impacts are hard to forget
  23. I think most of the problem is that the funnels plastic , and even on a cold day like today that dry cold wind , static build up is every where . I carn't Evan walk across the floor at home without creating sparks . The clothing that we ware when refilling makes a big difference , And can make the job more of a hazzard Mike
  24. The saying is : Those that cannot do , teach . And those that cannot teach , teach others to teach : It's got nothing to do with this thread . I understand only to well at the reading of the accident posts, ect ect . I still haven't flown ,and the avo's been ready for months . I'm at the stage now of thinking it may be time to hand up the headsets , I am at this stage scared of flying , it's hard to explain , but last month a friend flu me from y plc to home and after we landed I broke out in a sweet and was feeling rather odd .every one noticed. I carn't even watch that show on telly anymore AIRCRAFT ACCIDENTS These deaths and prangs DO have an effect on us all ! I haven't got the answer Mike
