  2. Wake turbulance moves out and away while moving downwards I doubt the is related all to the preceding departure.

  5. Mots, very well said, "Sage advice" in opinion, don't take that as saying your old ! But good advice.
  6. For some that might be true, but for most I think given the chance they would fly anything, I know I will fly what ever I can get my hands on.
  7. Just a touch too far for me and the Fisher Mk1, would love to go though, have a great time everyone, I'll be thinking of you all while I'm stuck here in Adelaide working away. Say hi to Julie, Ian ( Cab Sav) Ivan in the Buccaneer, Peter in the Cessna, and anyone else I may have forgotten. I REALLY wish I was there.

But maybe they should have a pilot certificate and some aviation related background as well as some corporate experience, a clear vision of where they feel the bulk of the members want the organisation to be for them, and an idea of how to get it there. Just my slant on it, just because you can fly, dosen't mean you can manage the organisation and you need to have the love and passion for flying ( our kind of flying ) to be a manager !
  11. JUSTNUZZA you are right to group the numbers, ATC prefer it that way and it usually sounds better, refer to AIP for terminology and phraseology they are your best reference for sure. When it comes to radio transmissions GA, RAA, hanger, gliders hot air balloons all need to use the same phraseology. When talking to ATC you can use ultralight in place for your type if you think you may be mistaken for something completely different like in the Texan / Tecnam instance, we ( ATC) will work it out. If ever in doubt, "say again" always works.
  12. Thirsty, it looks good but may be difficult to get Aus maps, charts etc, plus Ozrunways is just soo good, and just a little more expensive and best of all it's a LOCAL product by a local guy. But if you don't have an iPad I understand the need for an alternative.
  13. Riley, extraordinarily well put, this is a group of folks trying very hard to improve the system whilst keeping the current one running, give them a decent chance to make a difference and if you have the time ( you obviously have the passion ) help out in anyway possible.

  15. What aircraft are we talking about, I'm like OME, I like a steerable pneumatic TW, my Fisher Mk1 handles well in all conditions including bull dust, gravel, mud and soft sand.

  17. Deskpilot, I popped in there on Sunday with my wife, nice country strip, not sure you want to take the Jab in there though. Maybe if it was a little longer and flatter. But great for us Drifter, Skyfox and alike.
  18. Millie, It is my understanding that you must submit to a check otherwise you can have either your certificate suspended or aircraft grounded or both. Plus, there is a point based system that can fine you for non compliance, this also applies to DAMP checking, drug and alcohol, if you decline the exam it is an instant negative result and you will have your certificate suspended. The rules are there for us to follow ( I'm not saying you don't ) but know the rules and keep on the right side of them, when you get checked by CASA, treat it as a learning experience like landing at a new strip and not a person on a power trip trying to make your life hell.

I have my Ozrunways running magic black box on my right knee, and my maps with track drawn on and diversion lines as well, I have my flightplan printed and printouts of airfields that I'm either flying near or landing at, I have a note book with pen attached with frequencies and other quick access info available. All this paperwork is in a thin bag attached to the inside of te pod easy to get at and velcros closed so I don't loose the stuff through the prop, a bottle of water and a snack and I'm good for a few hours.
  20. Tim you are very welcome and so right, I'm an awesome pilot, just ask me. I too had a great time, the Loxton mob are truly great, I've been to more than 50 or so fly-ins and this rates as one of the most exceptional I've been too. The level of organisation and helpful friendliness was tremendous, I will be back with my wife in the back seat, camping under the wing and enjoying the aviation types.
  21. A fly in is just that, you fly in, have a good time, then leave, there isn't an aerial display or program of flying displays other than just a few blokes or ladies going for a flight or two. An Airshow is an event put on by an organisation that have everything from port-a-loos, first aid personnel and fast food stalls, they have an enormous insurance bourdon, the fly in is far more relaxed, how ever I'm sure if someone wants to take legal action against you for what ever reason, they will, advertise it as a fly in, come one come all, let the pilots know what is available, fuel, underwing camping, airfield situation, frequency if any, power, approaches, local attractions and aviation hazards. Put out a mud map so folks know what to expect, contact details and have a great time. Most importantly, let me know when it's on, and I'll be there. Good luck.
