  1. I really don't think The CASA gives a damn what is said on this or any other forum unless it is a path to prosecution.
  2. What point are you attempting to make Deb? Yes Don was on the Board and I was one of his supporters. Yes he did resign and for good reason, he wasn't the only one to resign at the time and had I been a board member at the time I also would have resigned. Since Don's resignation he continued to offer his financial expertise as a previous financial professional for some of Australia's largest companies to the board. But they declined to accept and continued with the nepotistic financial blundering (my words). Those days are over and again Don is offering support .... Are you suggesting he should be bitter and twisted and NOT encourage or support the Board?
  3. I think that as a result of this tragedy we all want to know what it was that caused the deaths of two highly experienced guys in these circumstances. Obviously something beyond their control. Out of two possible options I personally hope it was a bird strike; the second option, structural failure is not something that I particularly want to hear.
  4. Thanks Don, Was the title CEO part of the official announcement or your poetic license?
  5. I totally agree, I don't support what happened I was just explaining what I was told happened. We should still have access to the draft and there is no excuse in my mind why it should not be available, even though comment would probably not be accepted.
  6. That lovely wiley ol bugga could write the whole book on 2 strokes, but he won't want me saying that ... What he doesn't know, nobody does ... LOL
  7. This a vexed issue, the original intention was to promulgate the draft for comment, but due to the very tardy lack of effort of a certain employee who was engaged to write the draft, RAA was backed into a corner in terms of meeting a deadline to get the draft manual to CASA. This really was a disgraceful situation, we all should have at least had the opportunity to comment, because once it is adopted it will be the rules by which we are governed. This situation is a legacy of a previous board and management.
  8. Remember the days when we used to have a three yearly 'major' inspection on GA aircraft and that was subsequently changed to include a component of the 'major' overhaul in each annual? Did that change reduce in any way the thoroughness of what was the old 'major' overhaul regime? I thought the obligation of inspection and airworthiness was always on the operator. Why would anyone think the airframe can last forever?
  9. Do a search ... There are many different types of Lithium batteries. An interesting one is the Lithium Iron (yes iron) Phosphate. LiFePo4. Can be charged continuously at 14.6 volts ... No boost, absorption, float type requirements. But read up on it.
  10. Only if you buy an A380, then the manufacturer can cover up the problems .........
  11. Good pick up Irish. But at least you understood what I was attempting to say. LOL
  12. It is extremely disappointing the pilot was given far from adequate advice. Is this another case of buyer beware ... It should not be if advice is sort. If the person giving the advice is not competent, that person must decline to provide advice.
  13. Well please do trouble us Irish, your contributions are as valuable as anyone else's.
  14. " ... Using these new batteries ...." Just exactly what are "these new batteries"? There are so many Li variants we need to be very specific here and we need to understand the science. For pete's sake any bloody battery is extremely dangerous in flight if you don't have a means of disconnection and a properly engineered charging system. Try over charging a lead acid battery or put a fault on any battery without proper overload protection.
  15. I am certain Potts is not being critical in a negative sense. He is simply asking as am, I that we all attempt to proof read our posts to ascertain to the best of our ability that it can be understood. I am sure we all want to be understood don't we?
  16. Yes it is, but why wouldn't you access a PC? The quality and accessibility to information increases safety significantly.
  17. Ross with respect even if Tubz did, he would be muzzled and could not pass any information on to pilots. Whether he is, has, or does investigations does not lessen the logic of his argument.
  18. True story, Don Ramsay can give the exact detail, but we were given the opportunity to discuss this with the ATSB and we did NOTHING.
  19. What , no comments on how well he handled this situation. Well done, obviously trained well. Now to the battery, was it Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePo4), Lithium Ion (Li-ion) or Lithium Ion Polymer? I doubt it is Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiPo) as quoted because they have good thermal stability compared to the others and can be constantly charged at 14.6 volts.
  20. Hes on to you Nev ... ROFLMAO
  21. no clue sorry. It looks pretty boring in Jetstar livery ...
  22. Well said buddy. I have seen some really questionable operations in all gambits on both sides of the fence. In RAA we should strive to achieve top notch thorough training, of course what happens after that is entirely up to the individual involved.
  23. Not unique to RAA but it does appear problematic in RAA.
  24. The same question could and should be asked of any driver you choose to get into a Motor vehicle with and go cruising down the freeway. How do you know the competency of the driver, how much sleep he has had, whether he is on drugs or not, or his mental capacity. You will be travelling down the open highway or freeway at closing speeds of up to 220kph and passing within a metre of oncoming traffic.
  25. Must be the topic of the day girls and boys.
