Whats your favourite fixed wing recreational aircraft?
Keenaviator replied to recflyer's topic in Aircraft General Discussion
The Corby Starlet is up there. Really enjoying the long winged Jabbie too. -
Hydrate - have a drink of water before landing.
-
Hope not; I'll find out with my next plug replacement.
-
Mine ran on a couple of weeks ago when on mostly mogas 95. I've found it doesn't with 10% or more a gas. Normal plugs.

CASA 292/14 - Conditions and direction about Jabiru engines
Keenaviator replied to coljones's topic in Jabiru
I normally use 2 quarts and have the oil about 5mm on the dip stick. This time I added another 200ml - higher oil temps and oil pressure very high. It appears to be happier with the lower level. -
Thanks for noticing FH, I have contacted the seller requesting non resister plugs.

Just bought these, free freight from UK, price seems reasonable. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/8-x-NGK-Spark-Plug-Iridium-DR9EIX-4772-SUZUKI-1100-GSX-R1100-K-L-M-N-Zephyr-/151375452167?_trksid=p2054897.l4275

Can you give us a road rule reference for that offence Daz?

By the way, I too have no interest in parachuting. When I leave the ground with the paraglider, I know it is working and don't have to fall at 200k's hoping it's going to work.

You get to really like the bumps because they are a good sign that you are about to enter lift. There's a bit more to it that that. It's very rare that you see the lines go slack (that would be a sign that you are getting closer to the wing in negative g); I suppose that's because you weigh a lot more than the wing and your 'area' is much less than the wing, therefore you don't get closer to the wing. It is possible to get the wing to accelerate much faster than you and for it to end up beneath you (check out youtube paraglider 'infinite tumbling') but that's what I was referring to regarding being silly enough to get the wing beneath you. Not a criticism of you or anyone else :) Regarding the tif, if you aren't too far from Manilla you could fly the Hornet into Godfrey's place (he has a strip ideal for you), and do an introductory course. I thought about paragliding for years with all the negatives instilled in me from my hang gliding back ground. I'm very glad I gave it a go....

Is your Fisher Horizon the same as a Wright Flyer?
-
No worries as long as you are not silly enough to allow yourself to get above the wing and fall into it, known as 'gift wrapped'. You have to try pretty hard to do this though.
-
The perfect wing, no battens, very strong (tested to around 10g without damage). Very portable.

Some pretty serious looking power lines in the background of the photo depicting the Drifter.

Accident at Gawler South Australia
Keenaviator replied to Rotorwork's topic in Aircraft Incidents and Accidents
Imagine the carry on had it been Jab powered!!!! -
When buying second hand (aircraft), factor in the possibility of a new motor. BAP
-
I've had it happen twice on mine too. The common denominator was a very high percentage of mogas. With 15% + avgas and ensuring the throttle is close properly it doesn't happen. I also use 'flashlube' at 1% and this helps in other ways. BAP

If I ran my motorbike engine for more than a few seconds at 75% there would be someone behind me at 100% and party lights. BAP. -

I had an Ivo prop on a Quicksilver GT400. It was great, in fact it still is because a good mate has recently bought the GT (after if left me it went to Latrobe Valley for a couple of years, got a new 447, same prop, then sold to a bloke in Orange then sold onto another bloke back in Victoria, Leongatha and my mate bought it from his estate. It's now at Shady Creek, a place it knows very well since I used to visit very often for morning coffee :)).

I didn't know.

CASA 292/14 - Conditions and direction about Jabiru engines
Keenaviator replied to coljones's topic in Jabiru
They are actually using a different basis for this action, potential accidents that might occur as a resulf of a Jabiru engine failure. If they were looking at the type of engine powering aircraft involved in fatal accidents! ...... Let's just say there could be a number of operators presently gloating about their wonderful, infallable engines and their clever purchases who could be disappointed. -
Cheap 2 seater anyone?
Keenaviator replied to Head in the clouds's topic in Aircraft General Discussion
Probably on the high side of 100k too so not really 'cheap'.
