  1. Thanks Bob. I bit the bullet and bought them from Bert Flood, and they're sitting in my freezer now. I assume when you talk about pulling them into place with bolts and spacer, the spacer is a large socket or similar with the bolt and washer going through it, into the threaded insert on the back of the flange and tighten the bolt? Also assuming it'd be wise to buy separate M8 bolts for this process and not use the ones that are going on the prop?
  2. Not a bad looking design for something that was on the drawing board close to 100 years ago. Tailfeathers look very similar to DC3/C47. Overall it looks like someone got a generic fighter, scaled it up a bit and filled the front fuselage with passengers. If they'd put on a canopy for the pilot (and yes, cabin heat) it'd be a bit better.

  8. Similar problem down here in southern Tas. I'm going to want to find my plane somewhere to live in hopefully the next 12 months. I'm on a waiting list for a short strip nearby (Sandfly) but it's very limited in the number of planes they allow there and also a strip which requires a bit of experience to use (I think they require 200 hours). My only other option currently is park it in the open up at Tunbridge, about 1.5 hours drive away.
  9. Hey all, I want to mount the Bolly soon and looking at the hardware included - there are 6 bolts from hub to engine (drilled head M8x75), but no inserts for the prop flange. So are those press fit things? Where does one get them - are they a Bert Flood thing? Thanks for any advice. Cheers, Marty

  12. Why are tailwheels solid - is it just the size? I would have thought a pneumatic with lower tyre pressure would prevent this. Disclaimer - I know nothing about taildraggers.

  17. Is there a best practice for aircraft weighing, on normal scales?
  18. Was there an alternative to lockwire? I have a vague recollection of someone saying some sort of welding wire was exactly the same and much lower in price.
  19. Not an expert here but I assume the design of the aircraft itself would have some impact on your regular angle of descent. Drifter vs plastic fantastic, kind of thing.
  20. Yes, it's in my plane now. Sorry! All I can suggest is put up wanted ads here and on every other aircraft forum - maybe Facebook marketplace etc too - someone in Aus might have one they're not using.
  21. I was lucky enough to buy a second hand, but unused, one for $300 a couple years ago.
  22. Second jury strut done. (Which is when I discovered I've run out of AN3-6A bolts, and the AN3 washers. Where's the best place to get these in Aus?)
  23. We lived in Hervey Bay for a while when I was young. Too hot. Went back to Tassie.
