  1. Does that mean we are all happy, or we've just given up. I can't see there being any big resolutions if they haven't been announced yet. By the time they come out next magazine and allow for "proxy voting" you'd be extremely close to the required date of middle of april for the Meeting.
  2. The only way i see 1500kg working is if RAA and SAAA did it together and it took on the experimental type aircraft from GA (i.e. RVs etc). Personally I'd rather the focus be on increasing the 600kg limit to something more in line with what our current (not all) aircraft could actually fly under. 750kg-800kg seems like a good number, limited to 2 pax
  3. Generally don't get the mag for a couple more weeks here, will give it a read though.
  4. have you considered a syndicate at all? Don's idea of a 1/3rd (or even half share) would put a lot of aircraft within your budget. How many hours do you expect to fly annually?
  5. fathers day seems the perfect day for a fly in, take the kids to see the planes and the misses can't get upset cause it's fathers day :D
  6. This is what I get, if I try to scroll down it scrolls the page under the pop up. I know you can't design for every mobile.. But the current design works fine so I'lol be voting that way I think
  7. On the iphone 4s, am having issues trying to navigate the sub menu items on forum (ie What's New), the menu doesn't seem to want to scroll down. I agree with Geoff's point on being on the left. I mainly use the forum with what's new/alerts and I'm finding it harder with this new system then with the old.
  8. No there is no list of what you CAN fly (with SEA), only a list of what you CAN'T fly, it's up to you to work out the rest.
  9. I think it's the other way around, in that their is a list of aircraft that require a type rating (such as the mentioned Cessna Caravan C208). If your aircraft isn't on the list then SEA or MEA class rating covers it. As I don't fly anything bigger then 1500kg i've not really looked into the type rating aircraft.
  10. So your happy for 2 fire crews to stay behind and secure the area, but not 3 policemen who are trained in preserving evidence and actually have legal standing to prevent access and move people on? The ATSB are responsible for deciding on the course of action. From experience with a recent wheels up landing they required the police to secure the aircraft until high definition forensic photos could be taken (there were no major injuries either). Glad the pilot got out okay.
  11. could do your PIFR in a c206 to cover both the flying and the IFR training, although it wouldn't be as cheap as a c172. I think Redcliffe and RQAC both do c206 training. if you go with IFR make sure you'll be doing a lot of flying to keep current.
  12. That's correct, once you have the pilot cert. you can apply for the RPL and take that into the flight school and start training towards your PPL.
  13. The issue with ADSB, much like Transponders, relies on the aircraft having the equipment turned on, it doesn't really aid in "protecting" airspace from those who aren't doing the right thing. That's why we still have primary radar at Class C aerodromes even though secondary (transponders) gives us more information. Further away from the airports, secondary radar is generally only used, close in we have both.
  14. It all depends on the location and type of radar being used. Generally if your anywhere near a class C control zone the primary radar will pickup light aircraft without a transponder, what those aircraft are made of I wouldn't be able to tell you. I have seen hang gliders and parachutes picked up on the primary radar, but it doesn't always.
  15. Keith, to me it's no different then if a board member was to assist in setting up a tent at NATFLY, they are just another volunteer who is taking direction from the manager in charge. A board member doesn't really have any powers (individually), they can't just pickup the phone and tell the Ops manager what to do, and if they were to try I'm sure the Ops Manager is professional enough to alert the CEO and President to any over stepping.
  16. Can't see the issue then, a voluntary position who answers/acts on behalf of the Ops Manager.
  17. I'm not too familiar with ROC, is this a paid position or done purely voluntary?
  18. It doesn't need to be factory built for the owner to be trained in the aircraft, you do however need an instructor willing to train in your aircraft.
  19. Should have escorted him off the airside as a Grey ASIC does not permit one to be airside, it's just as useful as not having an ASIC at all (airside)
  20. Not that much needs changing, Appendix B details the regions and the number of board members and 18vii regarding the number required for a quorum. I can't see why the "Regions" couldn't just be changed into 1 Region with 5 Board members, but I agree with both Don and col that a sub committee needs to be established to start hashing out ideas and drafting the changes, better yet they actively discuss the ideas/changes here and with the members first. In terms of our proxy system, isn't it almost like postal voting already. You could appoint the Secretary the proxy with the form saying to vote For or Against the resolutions presented.
  21. Just wish we had some sort of group who could represent the position of recreational aviation on our behalf.
  22. The postal voting wasn't an issue with model rules but not something allowed under the act (law) which governs associations in the ACT. The consitition is made up of sections, most don't relate to each other. It's quite possible to change one section without having any effect on another section. Most members seem to agreeable to the idea of reducing the number of board members. However not many seem keen on losing the state based representation. How many times will we need to vote on this issue before we reach the combination that is the most suitable to the members.
  23. what's the price of a factory sling 2?
  24. Thanks for the informative reply. A little communication goes along way and i thank you for taking the time to engage with us on this forum Andy.
