  1. So just to make sure I have it crystal clear the AN08082014 rev only applies to 19 and 95.10 aircraft but all aircraft must have a note in the maintenance log indicating that two independent inspections have been carried out why doesn't the AN state that it is for all aircraft not specifically just for 19 and 95.10
  2. My next question ( which is also genuine as I am trying to understand this correctly) is why doesn't the AN state all planes not just 19 rego I have two mates that have identical planes but one is 24 and the other is 19 and there is confusion that the 19 needs two signatures and the 24 only needs one I think they both need two but it reads as if only the 19 needs two
  3. Is the owner of a 24 rego plane that is not used for hire but just used for private use allowed to do their own maintenance (say change a control cable ) if so does this work need to also be checked by another l1 or l2
  4. Hi I have a skyview and the fuel pressure reads ok have you selected the correct sensor in the skyview setup also is there a restrictor in the pressure sensor line to dampen the pulses and finally the best method of fault finding may be to connect in an actual guage to compare readings Where are you located
  5. I spent lots of time trying to get the prop set right started with getting 4900 rpm on a static test it is now set for about 5250rpm on take off with full fuel passenger and luggage this gives me a cruise of about 115 tas at 5400 rpm it is very hard to get accurate figures as the altitude and temp affects the figures a lot The philosophy at the moment is set the pitch finer and run it at higher revs and our canopy leaks heaps of air down the sides and from around the hinge area doesn't seem to be any easy fix for it ashley
  6. how is your plane going rgmwa we have just gone over the 360 hour mark and still flying great no real problems

  8. most of the rivet holes on the rv12 don't need to be deburred but there is 14000 rivets to be pulled and about 1500 to be squeezed and lots and lots of deburring

  13. My RV 12 has a tank with a sight glass built in so you can always see the actual level it also has an electric float guage and a flow meter which shows fuel left, fuel used, fuel per mile , fuel per hour and fuel calculated to be left at next waypoint so I can cross check easily
  14. running at an idle for 5 minutes will make two plugs very black on my 912 two plugs will go black very quickly if idling
  15. Hi did you let the engine idle before you pulled the plugs I was told by a rotax dealer that two cylinders always run very rich at idle and the only way to check the plugs it to run it flat out for about 30 minutes and then cut the mags and then pull the plugs and check them How you do this I don't know
  16. new one nearly ready to fly at Latrobe valley
  17. A Rotax powered RV 12 that was using evans coolant was also running very hot as soon as they got rid of the evans and went back to glycol the temps were normal
  18. HI I ride a can am spyder with a 100 hp rotax engine my RV12 also has a 100 hp rotax but it is a flat four not a v twin
  19. yeah smart decision bob assess each take off and make a decision based of the conditions at the moment not what it was like last time or even last week
  20. why is falling real estate and asset prices a pain if assets and real estate was cheaper you wouldn't need such high wages to survive With this will come some pain like falling real estate and asset prices, but its going to happen anyway eventually as market forces price us out of the labour market. So do we want to be proactive and reduce our wages gradually till they are competitive or do we want to wait till we have a severe correction that gets lumped upon us at an intensity and timing that we have no control over.
  21. My idle is set to give about 1400 rpm minimum during flight not sure what that equates to on a ground run I will check and let you know rotax manual states 1400 to 2500 until oil is warm I set throttle at about 2100 - 2200 for warm up as It will bang on the clutch if the revs are too low
  22. Flew up to Echuca for a couple of days, great trip up nice blue skies and calm. It was overcast and cold as we left Echuca today headed towards glenburn gap but was met by rain so flew further east and came in over blue rock dam back home to Latrobe valley good trip but overcast and a bit wet
  23. yes use detergent and water to regulary wash the plane and try and polish it once a year with canubra hard wax, I use prepsol to wash the exhaust grime off the undercarriage I use plexus to clean and polish the canopy .
  24. Hi all last flight was from Latrobe valley to Apollo bay for the night and then back along great ocean road to torquay and then inland for a trip around the bay and the back home trip was great except very rough from torquay to the bay
