  1. Gazelle bungee cords for undercarriage
  2. I fly an RV12 low wing forward opening canopy It has a koger sun shade which is great slide it forward for taxiing and flying and open for take off and landing I leave the canopy open a few inches when taxiing It does get a bit hot but not enough to be a problem and the great visability more than compensates for it
  3. Tutorial: VHF communications — R/T procedures An aircraft is 'in the vicinity' of a non-controlled aerodrome if it is within a horizontal distance of 10 nautical miles from that aerodrome and at a height above the aerodrome that could result in conflict with operations at the aerodrome. The height dimension of the aerodrome's airspace is a rather nebulous concept — few light aircraft pilots would be familiar with the potential flight path profiles of fast-moving RPT aircraft conducting their normal 'straight-in' or 'circling' approaches or their climb-out; so the upper and lower 'vicinity' limits (at various distances from the airfield with allowance for terrain elevation) are difficult to judge. Perhaps 5000 feet amsl could be regarded as the height limit of the airspace at most CTAF aerodromes – but aerodrome elevation must be taken into account. CAR 166 C

  6. Distributed practice (also known as spaced repetition or spaced practice) is a learning strategy, where practice is broken up into a number of short sessions – over a longer period of time. Humans and animals learn items in a list more effectively when they are studied in several sessions spread out over a long period of time, rather than studied repeatedly in a short period of time, a phenomenon called the spacing effect. The opposite, massed practice, consists of fewer, longer training sessions. It is generally a less effective method of learning. For example, when studying for an exam dispersing your studying more frequently over a larger period of time will result in more effective learning than intense study the night before.
  7. I think one hour per day and probably 3 days a week anymore and I dont believe you properly absorb what you are trying to learn If you stack lesson on lesson you dont really learn properly ie will you remember everything properly after being away from it for a week
  8. .Remove the radio from the cradle and then replace fuse if the fuse doesnt blow the fault is probably in the radio and only the radio will need to be sent to icom in melbourne If the fuse still blows the fault is probably in the cradle plug or wiring
  9. I change oil at 25 hours as i sometimes use avgas, which is early, but if I am away I can let it go longer . oil filter change at 50 hours, remove and clean and re oil air filters 100 hours spark plugs 200 hours change coolant every 2 years and replace all rubber ( radiator hoses carby sockets carby diaphragms fuel pump etc) every 5 years
  10. Plugs are normally only changed every 200 hours 10 minutes to change oil filter ( whilst oil is draining) 5 minutes to refill oil + remove and replace cowlings plugs would take about 30 minutes to replace

  21. HI is the bing on a 912 if it is there is a specific fuel delivery set up that you need ie properly sized return line nozzles etc not just a tee piece supplying fuel to each carby
  22. Have you checked the distributor cap for a proper fit ie is the rotor running true there may be a bigger gap when at number 6 plug It is strange that it is only on the number 6 plugs as the only thing that is not common to all plugs is the terms in the cap and the plug wire which I think you have checked
  23. WOW a 500 gm weight zip tied to the tail wheel how legal is that What happens if it falls off or comes loose .I think you need to get someone who knows about weight and balance involved real quick before an accident occurs I believe moving several kilos aft by a metre or so is going to have a real effect on balance If you are using considerable up trim to maintain level flight something is drastically wrong and needs to be sorted
  24. have you got a picture and where are they used
  25. Fixed costs rego, insurance, yearly maintenance, hangarage, variable costs. fuel, oil, filters, breakdown maintenance etc I believe things like depreciation etc are really only for businesses, and to even include running your car to the airport is taking it way too far also be wary relying on the cost per hour because the more you fly the less per hour it will be and the less you fly the more per hour
