General Hypothetical Question - CAUGHT OUT - X WIND Landing
rankamateur replied to SSCBD's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
There is a short video on aerokits.net.au website home page of the VG landing across my strip with 5 kts of headwind, 18 m landing roll. Savannah VG is a very special case, S/XL models are not quite so capable. -
Rego G-4848 shown on the video on channel 9, but the rego doesn't change the result. We have still lost another brother, too many!

When I first joined these forums many of the members described their flying, or the flying they aspired to as "low and slow". haven't heard nearly so much of it lately, I thought it must have been going out of fashion, surely they haven't all crashed.

Just as there were representatives of the all countries who had citizens on the manifest. -
New AAK Hornet at Donnington Airpark......
rankamateur replied to a topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
Hope the trailer has nice soft suspension, it would be a shame to shake a beautiful new airframe to bits dragging it around looking for somewhere different to launch. -

http://www.9news.com.au/World/2015/08/08/02/21/France-hunts-for-more-MH370-debris Interesting that we have searched for 17 months at a cost approaching $100 million, yet the froggies are going to search for one week then draw their initial conclusions. Seems very efficient to me. -

Rex hits a Roo at Mildura
rankamateur replied to Rotorwork's topic in Aircraft Incidents and Accidents
Only thing that is certain, if one roo got through there will be others and the hole in the fence will be getting bigger. -
Fatal Aircraft Accident Deniliquin NSW
rankamateur replied to Rotorwork's topic in Aircraft Incidents and Accidents
Too many of us don't know what we don't know. I think the CFI conference system may be the beginning of the solution, if the sub standard schools rub shoulders with the real ones, they may either give it away or lift their game. -
Aerochute Crash near Mackay
rankamateur replied to Cosmick's topic in Aircraft Incidents and Accidents
Maybe they just assume it was written off at it's second last lolly drop. -

Dual purpose roads - here and now!
rankamateur replied to rankamateur's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
I was at a clearing sale once and they offered a disused well, to cut up for postholes. Shame he wasn't there, he might have turned a handy profit. -
Dual purpose roads - here and now!
rankamateur replied to rankamateur's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
If they built more highways that wide there would be a lot less trouble with the bitumen breaking away from the edges, but some motorist would want three lanes painted on it. -

People are concerned about our member organisation sending up to three people to Oshkosh in this climate of austerity being enforced on the membership. Regular member services like a readable paper copy of the revised operations manual, a readable paper copy of our magazine, and even the delivery of the much lauded technical manual revision are becoming distant memories. When I joined just a few years ago these things were core business, were what you got for you membership.

Cost is probably similar.

Hi, I've started my flight training
rankamateur replied to Nightmare's topic in Just Landed - Welcome
Don't these guidelines depend how high you sit in the seat? At 190 cm I might get a different view to someone pilot sized. -
