  1. I was at a clearing sale once and they offered a disused well, to cut up for postholes. Shame he wasn't there, he might have turned a handy profit.
  2. If they built more highways that wide there would be a lot less trouble with the bitumen breaking away from the edges, but some motorist would want three lanes painted on it.
  3. People are concerned about our member organisation sending up to three people to Oshkosh in this climate of austerity being enforced on the membership. Regular member services like a readable paper copy of the revised operations manual, a readable paper copy of our magazine, and even the delivery of the much lauded technical manual revision are becoming distant memories. When I joined just a few years ago these things were core business, were what you got for you membership.
  4. Cost is probably similar.
  5. It is a tough market at the moment. Pleased he found a buyer.
  6. Don't these guidelines depend how high you sit in the seat? At 190 cm I might get a different view to someone pilot sized.
  7. Is that this one? https://www.backcountrypilot.org/forum/swiss-muffler-is-a-maintenance-nightmare-12929
  8. And easier to replace than a run of riveted plastic cable guides.
  9. If you want to reinvent wheels consider a 912iS if you are looking for more economy. I have a regular one in the box for mine and it is hard enough to get on with fitting it, but will be very straight forward when I get back to it..
  10. http://www.9news.com.au/world/2015/07/06/06/27/12-year-old-boy-hit-by-plane-during-fourth-of-july-festivities
  11. Go easy! Remember we are all human.
  12. What do you suggest? Three months or twelve?
  13. He might have to modify the stick in his Savannah if he is 130 Kg, hey Kyle Comm? Fuel management will be an issue for him if he wants to get into long distance touring.
  14. Vista was a lot more use than many reviews give it credit for. Win7 is not really any different, just boots up about twice as quick on the same machine.
  15. I will make sure to check my version before I fly my Airbus next!
  16. Use a good respirator system if you do use two pack. Reg poisoned himself pretty badly doing the last one he built, and my fuselage, after having painted about 8 others. It sneaks up on you if your gear isn't doing the job. Worse than sucking apricot seeds!
  17. I have never used the "ignore" function! Most pests are only annoying for a little while then they get sick of it. Next thing you know they post something intelligent and using the ignore function you would miss that and never find out they weren't so annoying after all. Case in point FT.
  18. Good job that even with our frugal financial management, we still leaves our CEO plenty of time to help out the office staff with opening the mail, hope we are only paying him a secretarial salary! "We have had an influx of magazine subscriptions in the office this week. So many that the CEO had to help open mail. Thanks to all the members who have subscribed ‪#‎RAAus‬ ‪#‎SportPilot" Every photo opportunity is a good one.
  19. So which Official Facebook page do our staff use to communicate with their members? Would it be Recreational Aviation Australia or would it be Recreational Aviation Australia inc.? The answer would appear to be both! Were is the efficiency in paying staff to post on both pages, and were is the efficiency for 97% of members who use computer technology to keep up with their organisation?
  20. Once I finish building mine I won't have a choice but deal with RAA. Until then it is still my choice. I can see the argument about not dividing the critical mass of members in a political sense. But I feel like the members get taken for granted all too often in this monopoly member owned organisation that we are required to deal with if we want to play the game. The trike guys at least can choose the best of the worst.
  21. This is becoming a worrying trend, the members are coming second!
  22. On the tyre fitting thing, even if you do get the holes in the right place to fit the standard tyres, the thicker bead on the Condor type tyres won't fit if you upgrade, so you are back to welding up the hole again. Can't for the life of me understand why ICP don't supply centre stem tubes with the bent stem and all the difficulties go away.
