  1. And easier to replace than a run of riveted plastic cable guides.
  2. If you want to reinvent wheels consider a 912iS if you are looking for more economy. I have a regular one in the box for mine and it is hard enough to get on with fitting it, but will be very straight forward when I get back to it..

  4. What do you suggest? Three months or twelve?
  5. He might have to modify the stick in his Savannah if he is 130 Kg, hey Kyle Comm? Fuel management will be an issue for him if he wants to get into long distance touring.
  6. Vista was a lot more use than many reviews give it credit for. Win7 is not really any different, just boots up about twice as quick on the same machine.
  7. I will make sure to check my version before I fly my Airbus next!
  8. Use a good respirator system if you do use two pack. Reg poisoned himself pretty badly doing the last one he built, and my fuselage, after having painted about 8 others. It sneaks up on you if your gear isn't doing the job. Worse than sucking apricot seeds!
  9. I have never used the "ignore" function! Most pests are only annoying for a little while then they get sick of it. Next thing you know they post something intelligent and using the ignore function you would miss that and never find out they weren't so annoying after all. Case in point FT.
  10. Good job that even with our frugal financial management, we still leaves our CEO plenty of time to help out the office staff with opening the mail, hope we are only paying him a secretarial salary! "We have had an influx of magazine subscriptions in the office this week. So many that the CEO had to help open mail. Thanks to all the members who have subscribed ‪#‎RAAus‬ ‪#‎SportPilot" Every photo opportunity is a good one.
  11. So which Official Facebook page do our staff use to communicate with their members? Would it be Recreational Aviation Australia or would it be Recreational Aviation Australia inc.? The answer would appear to be both! Were is the efficiency in paying staff to post on both pages, and were is the efficiency for 97% of members who use computer technology to keep up with their organisation?
  12. Once I finish building mine I won't have a choice but deal with RAA. Until then it is still my choice. I can see the argument about not dividing the critical mass of members in a political sense. But I feel like the members get taken for granted all too often in this monopoly member owned organisation that we are required to deal with if we want to play the game. The trike guys at least can choose the best of the worst.
  13. This is becoming a worrying trend, the members are coming second!
  14. On the tyre fitting thing, even if you do get the holes in the right place to fit the standard tyres, the thicker bead on the Condor type tyres won't fit if you upgrade, so you are back to welding up the hole again. Can't for the life of me understand why ICP don't supply centre stem tubes with the bent stem and all the difficulties go away.
  15. All that structure weighs very much the same in both models, then those very neat, extensively riveted seat bucket weigh about 4 kilos each. They are a genius example of 3D computer design and manufacture, but the stainless steel seat runners are the heaviest duty bit of gear in the whole airframe.
  16. Not if he judged that that the water was too choppy where he was planning to land.
  17. This is one we should have talked about. Took all of an hour to mount all three tyres. Only risk is pinching the tube as you do up the bolts to pull the two halves together, avoided by adding just enough air to pull the tube into shape BUT little enough to not push the tube out between the two halves of the rim.
  18. Amphibians will become the safest class of planes RAA administer if they hand out three month suspensions for coming in to land. What happened to PIC obligation to go around if landing is not safe.
  19. I got laser cut felt dust seals from Reg to help keep the grease clean, don't be shy with the grease when you are assembling them though.
  20. See saws and swings...Now a three year old can even understand what you meant.
  21. Over the last six or seven years I have been to so many air shows and fly-ins that I have completely lost count, but over that time I have met and talked with many pilots for the last time, I always feel for their friends and family who miss them much more badly than I do, but the sheer volume of them is starting chew away at why I like to fly. They aren't all arrogant, or careless, or a show off or in a hurry or...no doubt some of them were one or another of these things, but in every case they have appeared just like the next pilot I will meet for the first time at the next one I get too. When the third member of a group I was a member of was killed, I left that group, but it didn't stop people dying, it only made me fell better at the time. The simplest fact seems to be, the more fly-ins I see someone at, the more like they are to not be at the next one!
  22. This is getting monotonous. A bloke like this wouldn't have reversed the inputs when the shit hit the sail.
  23. News like this always makes it hard to explain to your family why you keep going. I find it knocks your drive to get on and finish a build too. I have 32.5 hours in my book and every one of these poor souls has had much more experience and logged many more hours than me. Always leaves me wondering why I think I am going to be any better than each of them, but human arrogance always makes us think we are different. That is why bad stuff always happens to some one else!
  24. Keith, What part of a rego needs administering on an ongoing basis? It is right that GA registrations are paid for at establishment, after that the maintenance has to be kept up to go on enjoying the benefits of registration. The ramp check is the compliance inspection!
