Barney Oldfield Baby Lakes 19-1324 Whereabouts
rankamateur replied to ave8rr's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
Being 19 rego that manoeuvre at 0:44 must have been some sort of stylised stall recovery since it certainly wasn't aerobatics. -
In 1983?
-
Bet it's got a Rotax in it.
-
It had a 2010 ERSA on the seat when I landed there about 3 years ago so we assumed it had been given a bit of love sometime about then. It was quite a good strip as I remembered it just a bit up and down over its length. Might depend a bit on what you are used to!

"Very heavy, wiill require a crane to lift it." Could make for awkward opening of the hangar door.

I agree that two a day was sub-optimal. It may even have led to the lesson you would rather forget. I slept for most of the afternoon that I cancelled flying and then had one ley day later in the peace but otherwise kept up the pace. I do think two or three lessons a week would be a much better high intensity training schedule.
-
That day when you just can't nail a landing, better to wake up another day and put well behind you. I trained in a solid block, two sessions a day for just under two weeks. When this happened I cancelled the afternoon session, and slept on it. The next day was all good.
-
Sometimes isn't it better to be able to forget?
-
Let me know what I can do to help.

Won't be so much drag at take off speed, cruise is where it will bite you harder.
-
Be aware that the reason that the performance of the Savannah VG is so similar to the Savannah XL/S is that the added lift/reduced drag of the streamlined cowl is approximately the same as the added drag of pushing the 5 inch broader fuselage through the air. Be careful you don't use all your extra power overcoming extra drag.
-
That is him. We built his first XL Savannah, and the replacement S one he had down there. It flies absolutely beautifully. I put in for it when he is finished with it but he said I had to stand in line behind his daughter.

Was Garry Dee from scone along in his White Savannah?

Mark, Do you need the original back wall in the baggage area to protect you from rocket blast if the rocket is deployed?

My cowling was the last of the gel coat ones. I think the change was a mistake. They must be chasing minimum weight but where is the point if you have to use a kilo of bog to get a surface fit to paint.
