  1. Hunting through old threads looking for suggestions on getting fuel cards, Many pumps accept Credit Card swipe....but not all. Drew a blank with anything recent so would appreciate some current feedback please.
  2. Today I renewed my hull insurance with a liability top up. I decided to give the RAA preferred insurer a go, PSB group. They were almost 25% cheaper than my previous insurer and around 30% cheaper than the next nearest quote. They have an on-line quote system via the RAA website which allows you to work out what suits. The saving covered this years registration, membership and magazine subscription. For me, it was worth having a look around.
  3. I love my David Clarke 13.4s, if you keep your eye on gumtree you will pick up a set for less than $200. Just plug them in, no batteries, no Bluetooth distractions and in comparison bits are cheap and very durable. I also have have Lightspeed Zulu 2s which are good with plenty of features but are not cheap.
  4. GR 912 25-698 Restoration progress. Engine installation under way. Bruce and his helpers have been plugging way in the Silver City.
  5. Out and about in the Wentworth area this weekend. Got about 5 hours in and had a good poke around the Murray river which is in flood in that area. Photo is where the Darling joins the Murray at Wentworth. Wentworth Aerodrome is in the top right of the photo. Was great flying weather there this weekend. Tempers it for us all though whenever tragedy strikes as it has in the Rockhampton area two days ago.
  6. Depending on your perspextive these puns are crazing. I can see through the cracks in them but only just and frankly they only serve to diffuse highlights of this terrific thread.
  7. My thoughts and best wishes go to everyone who has lost with this deal at CAMit. There are no winners here. I have dealt with staff from the office, floor and have spoken with Ian direct on several occasions. Without exception I found them to be helpful, professional and patient and I am so sorry for the loss of this dedicated team who gave the CAMit factory life, this extends to their families. Beyond this I am lost for words except to add that I am sure my sentiment is shared across many horizons. If you know a member of that team personally please extend a shared thanks and a sincere best wish for their future.
  8. This is a promotion put together by he HGFA. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNIvd7KJpXc Does't matter how we do it as long as we do!
  9. I already really miss the 21 days recent posts tag (now 14 days) being on the side.
  10. Have spoken to Bob about a Jabiru/Camit variant of this and he will be in touch. Lifetime warranty on the product and according to Bob "highly effective".
  11. A hangar is my ultimate man cave. There are people who love to talk about aircraft at hangars. It is a lie to tell her (or him) "I'm only going out for an hour/couple of hours/until lunchtime". When we can we hang around them all day, we can't help ourselves, we love it. This applies even if you don't own an aircraft or fly or live in the same town as the hangar. They are called them hangars because we are suppose to hang around them!
  12. This site needs a funny but naughty sticker. I would stick that on your post flying dog.
  13. My wife and I have an arrangement that works well, I don't ask how much her hair doos cost and she doesn't ask about how much I spend on flying. Luckily no spreadsheet required. For the most part it has to cost what it costs.
  14. Go for it Bruce, tinker away. You love this sort of thing and are pretty good at it as your temp monitors demonstrated. We all love different aspects of recreational flying and I am already looking forward to watching your progress and results whatever they may be.
  15. Admission of bias but BROKEN HILL is outstanding. It is centrally located, affordable, friendly and home! It takes exactly the same time to get to every place in Australia only dependent on how fast you are going. What is weather ?
  16. Bruce and Trevor electrical testing all new kit. Lightwing GR 912 25-698 update from the Silver City. Today - wings are close to being ready and are very shiny, electrics tested only some minor issues with the uhf, sanding and tidying up completed almost ready for engine and paint. Getting closer ! I just love aeroplanes !
  17. Jabirus are still flying across this great country despite having endured what some have called a war. As resilient as the emu and a much better flyer !
  18. All about choices ! Or not ?
  19. I had no idea what a flying flea was until now. Some flying fleas from google.
  20. A CS2 built and flown in 1938. Now standing under a DC3 in the Adelaide Aviation Museum. Located in Port Adelaide, the museum is half a block from the SA Railway Museum which is half a block from the SA Maritime Museum. A really good day out.
  21. Gawler home to the Silver City ...... still no assistance from the navigator!
  22. Clues - maximum take off weight 174 kg and an 8 hp engine
  23. Lightwing GR 912 25 698 - Instruments being installed, the guys are doing a very thorough and tidy job. A classic Aussie machine and I can't wait to have a fly. I've been doing the preparation for paint and boy you get to know every wart. Paint then engine .... stay tuned! We were sent this picture found on the internet of the aircraft when she was younger and had clothes on !
  24. If this is correct and it it widespread among insurance companies generally - it will make the CASA intervention look like a product promotion.
  25. I've had a fantastic long weekend of flying. Had a great time at the Wentworth fly-in, did my bfr with Cliff Banks who was at Wentworth for the weekend and then out to Menindee for lunch at the pub today. Took this picture on the way home to Broken Hill, those familiar with the normally red landscape will appreciate the flush of green which is now prominent through far west NSW. The outback is centrally located for ease of access -come and check it out yourself !
