  1. My Thruster t500 ultralight originally had a 64 inch two blade on the 65hp rotax 582. (2500 prop rpm at full power). A four blade ground adjustable 64 inch should work well with 130hp and would give you another 3.5 inch clearance. I would talk to Viking, they would have come across this problem before.
  2. These are Sydney airports corporation contractors.
  3. Good news, 65% is still a lot of kits. Van's Resumes Shipping Kits, 65 Percent Of Customers Renew Orders - AVweb WWW.AVWEB.COM Van’s Aircraft says 65% of customers have agreed to pay more for their kits and more than 100 of those kits have now been shipped. 4. Some good news. 65% is a good number, still a big number. Van's Resumes Shipping Kits, 65 Percent Of Customers Renew Orders - AVweb WWW.AVWEB.COM Van’s Aircraft says 65% of customers have agreed to pay more for their kits and more than 100 of those kits have now been shipped. 5. The length of the orifice is also important. The differential pressure tester is designed to check the compression of aircraft engines by measuring the leakage through the cylinders caused by worn or damaged components. (1) For an engine cylinder having less than a 5.00-inch bore; 0.040-inch orifice diameter; . 250 inch long; and a 60-degree approach angle.
  6. Installation and 100.5 checks cost $2200, total cost just over 10k so got 1/2 back. My application number was 728 so a nice increase in equipped aircraft.
  7. Just received my rebate for uAvionix tailbeaconX transponder and AV30C control head/EFIS. Removed the Vac system completely and saved 4.5kg. Stil use SkyEcho2 for traffic in on the tablet. It can see the tailbeaconX so a constant verification that adsb out and in is working. The AV30 is a beautiful little EFIS for those that like a traditional 6 pack, gives redundancy of airspeed and alt. Still a few months left to get a rebate.
  8. I don't see runway elevator trim driving a tecnam or any LSA into the ground. Much bigger aircraft yes it has happened. We have a P92 super eglet in the shop atm. It has electric elevator trim between the seats, nice logical rocker switch. Takes 12 seconds for full travel. My Musketeer also has a stabilator with trim/anti servo tab. For my own education I have wound on full trim (manual) to see what the resulting control force is like. Yes mildly scary, about 25-30 kg of force required to maintain level flight. The trim tab on the Musketeer is about 4 times larger and both aircraft fly at about the same speed.
  9. These mechanical pressure gauge plugs have a small protrusion in the plug which should be sliced off leaving a small hole when the gauge is put in service. They are plugged so as not to leak damping fluid while in transit.
  10. Disruption of the wing and fuselage buckling behind cockpit.
  11. I will also recommend Buy an aircraft by searching Plane Sales Australias aircraft marketplace WWW.PLANESALES.COM.AU Search and Buy Used or New Aircraft for sale by using Australia's best aircraft marketplace Recently sold aircraft for a friend using plane sales, had very good enquiry and was sold in less than two weeks. They have the best simple website that works.
  12. A collision occurred on the runway at Sydney in 1971 between two jets carrying 220 people. Only luck prevented any loss of life. https://www.atsb.gov.au/publications/investigation_reports/1971/aair/aair197101202
  13. If those rubber mounts are 40mm that puts the bolt spacing at about only 110mm. I think this will always be a problem.
  14. The CVR will be interesting. It is unfortunate the Dash 8 entered the runway at the touch down point, at the threshold it would have been a near miss.
  15. I think my solution of bump stops has some merit. With a piece of 50x10 or 12mm aluminium bar under the head of longer bolts it can work in both directions at each mount. The bump stops are only needed for starting and stopping. The existing mounts remain unchanged if they are doing an acceptable job in flight.
  16. Rogerc's post has given me the idea of having bump stops installed. These could be out board of the isolation, something very stiff with a mm or 2 of clearance. Automotive engine mounts have this design. Isolation when running, travel limited when stopping, win win.
  17. Hey Blue, if you flew before 10am local that could be considered last year🤔. I flew into Cowra today dec 31 2023 to get fuel and flew home 20 mins later in the new year.
  18. Looking on Google there are no clear areas. Even the road is not accessible for a stol aircraft like a thruster. It would be a beautiful fly if the engine keeps running... A BRZ is the machine for that route, planning is in progress 😁.
  19. Any RAAus pilot can do this now. Equippe the aircraft, get an RPL ( in a VH aircraft, easy), do the training which will be required either way and oh I forgot they will need a CASA medical.
  20. The LS 350 ci engine may be more suitable as a substitute for the six cylinder Continental 520ci or Lycoming 540ci engines in terms of weight and horsepower produced. Not really a fan of automotive conversions, the devil is in the details.
  21. Builders of Van's aircraft could cheapen the job by using an LS engine. Cletus who is a fixed wing and helicopter pilot and Carbon cub owner declined a ride. Aircraft starts at 4 min in.
