  2. the govamin will shortly be mandating a 7% wage rise for all building bound employees first, all windows will have to 'blacked' out (white is also becoming acceptable) the cost inefficiencies of clear glass distraction can be easily demonstrated (says the govamin) ...............

  7. I think that's your problem - motor is idling to high - that's why the plurry thing won't come on down - on the ground what does it idle at - I'd suggest 1500 - any other bidders please
  8. this is serious stuff where lives are at risk but I can't help thinking of vehicle roundabouts and the human interpretation of what is correct roundabouts: Situational awarness is required - what lane - where not to cross - when to go and where / / how to exit; (what direction - for some); etc aircraft circuits: Situational awarness is required but there are vertical and horizontal dimensions, and speeds, heights, conflicting directions, etc Both require correct human interpretation - radios will help a great deal (joining pilots can understand the likely circuit being used and who is out there using a radio properly) - but I think the human interpretation of what is the correct way to join is the big one

  14. your insurance company will / might take a dim (almost murky, gloomy bordering on dark) view of any non engineered structure ? causing damage to you aircraft and particularly surrounding damage to other property

  16. often wonder about left turning cars and consuming all the left side of the road - can only think that drivers don't know how wide their car is (there is so much car shell built around the vehicle occupants) you see it also on narrow roads and bridges - some drivers don't know where their wheels are / width of their vehicles
  17. I've been there - they have some books on anti-gravity (theoretical analysis) - once reading them ................. they are very hard to put down

'the engine stops before deployment' ......... - is that part of the standard installation / system requirement ? - the 'chute pull handle' stops the engine ? BRS shortcomings are: The BRS unit and mountings weigh around 30 kg. It has to be placed in the tail section (thus moving the C of G aft) and requires parts of the airframe to be strengthened to withstand the forces associated with deployment, adding another 7 Kg. Combine weight and balance considerations and at least one passenger seat has been sacrificed for the same endurance. There is no control once the system is activated because the engine stops before deployment; and the descent speed is 25 feet per second… The system is airspeed limited: the aircraft must not exceed a set speed before deployment;
  19. contrived analysis follows !: a quick look through the list seems to me that insurance sees 'impact' and 'gravity' (sudden stop at the end) ............. as a risk Insurance seems quiet forgiving when it comes to 'water' I wonder which category has killed the most (I'd have thought water would be the biggest killer) ? maybe playing with water is tolerated cause we have been doing it longer ......... but those new fangled flying contraptions might take another couple of hundred years to wait before they are tolerated more

  22. call me a dinosaur but I can't see how a car (a 2 dimensional thing) can ever be a flying car (a 3 dimensional thing) - a flying car for the masses (I mean you've just picked up Pizza - all the drones could not fly that 24 hour period) so it was a drive / flight to the Pizza shop and it was time to get home ............ quick case in point - insurance claims for cars - some good ones such as below: “Going to work at 7am this morning I drove out of my drive straight into a bus. The bus was 5 minutes early..” “I knew the dog was possessive about the car but I would not have asked her to drive it if I had thought there was any risk.” “I collided with a stationary truck coming the other way” “The pedestrian had no idea which way to run as I ran over him. “Coming home, I drove into the wrong house and collided with a tree I don’t have.”
  23. good work on your first post Ben I don't even know what bankstown looks like ! - but I think commercial pressure for capital and rent seems to exceed what flight schools can generate in income ...................... they move to where things are a bit cheaper ?
