  2. definite NZ my guess ? would be 1950 ? - new plymouth or perhaps blenheim .......... good photo though - everyones busy
  3. lunch - tea and bread - tiger moth days ?
  4. joining the coversations: a tecnam bravo with a V8 ............. that'll attract some ulcers
  5. I bet this one did more than 204 mph cruise
  6. Some initiatives CASA now realises some ideas have not tracked as initially anticipated don’t work; work has identified thinking through the initial idea new dependencies and issues that require proposals to be re-sequenced and rescoped – it now seems bl@@dy obvious to CASA that this needs more work
  7. Danny, she wasn't a cop, she was only playing at being one. She was a county official, essentially a ranger, as Dan says, "equivalent to a dog catcher". 'similar to an animal control officer' ...................... please 😇
  8. I reckon the port wing moved a whole lot more than t'other one
  9. it is better to have loved and lost - than never have loved at all
  10. my ruff understanding of 2 issues in this thread (NOT neccesarily related to the thread incident): 1. fuel tanks - an internal bladder had to be installed so if there was any tank rupture - the bladder fuel contents would be likely contained 2. Should Robinsons be flying in NZ video: mast bumping - the rotor head design of the Robinsons makes in possible for a must bump to occur (fast flying in turbulent conditions not recommended)
  11. I can remember flying to an airport about 200 miles away and about 30 miles out I heard a Qlink flight saying the met condition was CAVOK I didn't like the sound of CAVOK so diverted about 60 miles and sat there for 30 minutes then proceeded to intended destination - it was good flying weather ! ............................... (a little bit of paranoia can go a long way !) I know what CAVOK means - should i happen to hear it again
  12. as discussed before - why didn't the yanks just make DH Mosquitos ? - they could deliver 4000 lbs a lot safer for their aircrew faster, higher ? less people, fuel, motors ............. and there was still a big 'bang' half way in the journey
  13. BUT, you get the james bond music and no doubt the woman at the end of the movie Stealth would n't be part of the exercise - noise levels would be well over the top And, turning over hay to get it dried - there'd have to be cheaper methods
  14. 2.2 pounds pounds = $ 3.86 Oz !
  15. I did n't realise W.A., the N.T. and Tasmania had put power on ........................... (sorry Can't help you - it shows you these systems are available though - I got hold of this because someone grabbed hold of an 11000 volt single line (over a roof - no one saw this line) - certain others did and worked around then - until the unlucky last never saw it)
  16. this one should give you power line mapping give you an idea anyway https://www.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=5a53f6f37db84158930f9909e4d30286
  17. there was 912 plane parked ........................ for a whole day the carb springs pulled the throttle in too full open the next 'spitfire' pilot that jumped in had no idea where the throttle was and you betcha - started 912 plane up ! narrowly missing people 912 plane climbed up a hangar wall - 912 plane was broken beyond repair no injuries to anyone - just a better understanding of prestart checks
  18. clear night or a cloudy night KC ?
  19. cynically ! - yeah but ............ you can't expect a bureaucracy to admit a system (ASIC) is a flop a good burgeoning bureaucracy must continue with the bureaucratic system until the systems bureaucratic annoyance causes bureaucrats to admit the system is a stinker The system is then (could take some years) excised from the bureaucracy - and the next day ? - it's like the system never, ever existed
  20. its good ? to see the ethics of the 'kangaroo court' are still upheld ............... you still see it from time to time
  21. the MCAS system was disguised in the operating procedure by Boeing - the FAA and pilots (and probably Boeing) were not aware of its significance this program also made the point that when all those 737's were grounded away from base - there were few airline pilots offering to fly them back to base
  22. clothe ideas from lbj
  23. kgwilsons takeoff at hamilton reminded me of a cherokee 140 ? at commercial flight school motueka - 1980's - 4 aspiring pilots and the book said this plane would fly but not much flight over the end fence - the book was correct - we were n't much over the fence on takeoff
