  1. tecnam - ballarat 31.3.15 .............. this was in the RAA 2015 incident list - can I ask ? - does anyone know what caused this event (twice) ........ fault identified ? quote: ' Completing a check flight after inspection. Aircraft was on downwind RWY18 85 kts, straight and level. The aircraft rolled and yawed to the right without warning. PIC applied full left rudder and full power and the aircraft shuddered and recovered. Recovery was not instant but did return to level flight. Rudder required a lot of pressure to move much more than normal. Lost about 200 feet. Completed circuit and made a full stop landing without further incident. The Aircraft had suffered a similar incident on Sunday 29/3/2015. . Aircraft Grounded until fault identified and repaired.'
  2. ......... rumor has it the conspirators will be shortly stealing the flaperon bit back to have again....................... an airworthy plane
  3. yes droll - I know of a commercial pilot in airlines who was seriously considering stopping flying ............... to avoid the tedious red tape and procedural stuff - just a nice 8 to 5 job .......... nothing else to do outside those hours as to the cause of crashes - well its because .............................
  4. more than happy to continue talk Sky 2 (good for tecnam chatter) Compressions and power normal ................. I believe I'd say the higher you go the better your speed - don't think 2000 ft would be the optimum height ? lets do a climb test - let us know your parameters and result and I'll do the same (suggest known aircraft weight and a ___________ knots ? entry speed and time say a 2000 foot climb at say ___________ knots ?) Just beware the air in oz is much cleaner than the states so you'll be up against some stiff competition
  5. Yesterday took brutus Bravo to 2000 feet - OAT would have been 25 degrees - 150 kilos of pilot and fuel - no wheel fairings - standard timber prop flew one way - then reciprocal back - it was a lumpy day and suspect plane was in lift and then sink .......... not the best day for record taking rough recording was as follows - speeds were (REVs: IAS / GPS) OUTWARD 5000: 103 / 95 5200: 104 / 94 5400: 119 / 110 INWARD 5000: 103 / 105 5200: 104 / 110 5400: 110 / 114 5600: 115 / 118

  15. as said before - get passenger to participate .............................. good one is visual outside - if you see something (bird, plane, etc) indicate / point it out ensure they know how to access fresh air vents so they can adjust

  20. I don't think it matters much how many hours it takes someone going solo - it maybe not even the measure of the student - it could be the measure of the instructor (congrats Aldo 8.9 hours to solo ! great stuff) - and I don't think any student will drag their knuckles on the ground reading this either) I think students getting into this zone would like to know about these aspects ? ............. the other day I went for my first fly in 2 months ! (wind, work, wages) - I thought at the time it was just like going solo all over again
  21. 17.5 ! hours to solo; 30 + years ago and I did n't care the least - have enjoyed every bit of it .............

  23. After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, British scientists found Traces of copper wire dating back 200 years and came to the conclusion that Their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 150 years ago. Not to be outdone by the British, in the weeks that followed, an American Archaeologist dug to a depth of 20 feet, and shortly after, a story Published in the New York Times: "American archaeologists, finding traces of 250-year-old copper wire, have concluded that their ancestors already had an Advanced high-tech communications network 50 years earlier than the British". One week later, Australia's Northern Territory Times, reported the Following: "After digging as deep as 30 feet in his backyard in Tennant Creek, Northern Territory, aboriginal Billi Bunji, a self-taught archaeologist, reported That he found absolutely bugger-all. Billi has therefore concluded that 250 years ago, Australia had already Gone to wireless."...
