Jeremy Clarkson suspended from the BBC. . . .

OMG,. . . . . what will we do at 8pm on a saturday night ? ? ? ? ?

Jerry is suspended for ( allegedly ) punching a left wing luvvie BBC producer. . . .

Bloody good show,. . .I HOPE HE BROKE THE GUY'S NOSE. ( I say GUY, as I know him, and he doesn't usually punch women. . . .)

The BEEB has gone so far left over tha past few years that it is excruciating to watch their news programmes any more. . .so much leftie spin. . . . . ( I hope ABC isn't suffering from the same malaise. . . . . )

If the UKIP party get any power at the May elections,. . .then I hope they will do what they suggested and remove the BBC licence tax which every TV watching household in the UK is forced to pay ( £145.00 per annum ) and have to generate their own funds though advertising like everyone else does. gone are the days when they used to produce really GOOD programmes, and their news is so slanted it really isn't worth watching,. . .we'd be better here in uk WATCHING rtc and getting Putin's angle on things, or Al Jazeera, . . .etc. . . at least they actually REPORT. . . and don't spin it . . . .

Political rant over. . . .

Sorry,. . .should have put this in "Off Topic " . . .Mods . . . help ? ? ?

Sounds like an early start at the Star Casino, Darling Harbour.

A punch in the nose? Better than a stab in the back that is the usual MO in TV.

Phil, The ABC is often referred to as the ALPBC, just as bad as the BBC. However, they are funded by the public purse, no ads, no license fee. They bite the hand that feeds them daily, but claim they are immune from budget cuts.

Meh, will be temp only, the guys ratings, both personal and all his shows (he doesn't just do Top Gear), are some of the highest out there and that's all that matters.

I can't believe that the BBC are punishing the people over this by stopping Top Gear going to air, it's an internal matter and the BBC aren't going to make many friends over that decision.

He has punched a few people by the way, Piers Morgan for one - to the applause of many.

but I must say Jeremy does push it a bit sometimes.. 054_no_no_no.gif.950345b863e0f6a5a1b13784a465a8c4.gif David

You mean he occasionally has factual opinions agreed to by the majority?

Precisely, but don't get me started on the Bali drug smugglers. I thought the Argentine/Falklands episode was hilarious. Then Auntie wants to apologise to a bunch of gauchos we gave a flogging to for reminding them about it. Bah humbug!

I've noticed that the BBC seems to have to deal with Clarkson's "irreverent" behaviour more and more. The fans are loving it no doubt.

True story; Howard Stern whilst coming up through the ranks as an American radio "Shock Jock" had huge ratings. People were polled as to why they listened in and 40% who liked him said they; "Couldn't wait to hear what he said next". The other 60%, who hated him, listened in because they; "Couldn't wait to hear what he said next"!

Not sure "irreverent" is the right term based on the majority who are not offended or based on that it's an entertainment program with comedic content.

I just think the 3 of them just gel together if you take Clarkson off the show it would just be another car show..mostly boring..like the other Top Gear shows around the world..

That's just wrong. Claims of bias have been fully investigated and it turns out they are unsubstantiated. The LNP blaming the ABC for appearing biased is like Clive Palmer blaming the camera for making him look fat.

Yes DGL, Jeremy likes to speak in a very NON-PC way . . .and this is why the whining hypocritcal leftie toadies at the beeb hate his guts, but one thing that they can't avoid admitting is the amount of money they earn from TG around the world. BBC Worldwide ( the bit which allows all the bosses their lavish lifestyles ) brings in £__________ per annum ( check it out on wiki or the web blog "order-order.com" where there are several lively debates about the subject Parental warning, no mods on that site and much foul language. ) Jerry IS topgear, and the format won't work without him. if he does get canned, he can simply move to a commercial network, command his own fee, and it will do just as well, he'd have to call it "Ninth Gear" or something like that as he's already sold the TG name to the beeb for over £11 Mil.

Does he go over the top really ? I remember most people talking the way he does about most things in the seventies. . . or are we so brainwashed by what we should not SAY that we're all losing the plot . . .I don't have the answer. I've met him personally on a number of occasions, (at and near his house in the Isle of Man ) and he seems as norma as me,. . . not much of a reference I admit. . . .

No, actually Clarkson puts up with the Beeb. This is an organisation full of left wing luvvvie politicos and apologists for paedophiles, they make most people in this country sick because they always get away with it and nobody in their enormously bloated mangement structure ever has to account for anything.

There must be a language mismatch between English English and Australian English... what's "luvvvie" mean??

I can't speak to the management structure of the BBC but they've certainly produced some brilliant shows over the years.

"According to some media reports, Clarkson was angry over a catering issue."

I quite like Clarkson and Top Gear - but punching out a producer because of the food? Seems a bit diva-ish.

Hammond is the one who gives the show depth. His interview with EveL Knievel was something none could have done better. Jeremy has had a MULTITUDE of final warnings at the beeb. He apparently had a swing at the bloke concerned. I find his treatment of the subject a bit "deliberately DUMB" and sometimes irritating for that reason.

The BBC are not pulling the show as such It's not fully produced yet but the series has been sold in advance. You are looking at about 7 or 8 of the 10 being available. ( they might be able to conjure up the missing ones of material on file)..The BBC will endure some considerable loss of reputation and money. Figures for the TOTAL value of the series are about 50 mill, (so I'm to believe) Nev.

Hi Marty,

Speaking as a Pom it is quite a common expression in the UK, usually associated with gentlemen of a thespian persuasion....here is a definition I found from the Oxford English Dictionary on the web which seems to be in line with my understanding :-

"In British use, luvvie is a humorously depreciative term for an actor, especially one regarded as effusive or affected. The reference is to a stereotype of thespians habitually addressing people as ‘lovey’. When the OED revised its entry for lovey in 2008, this sense, which had by then become established in the variant spelling luvvie, was made a separate entry."

Cheers,

Neil

Yikes. I'd rather be called bro. That talk sounds like a lot of closet poofs. (I'm not trying to be unkind). Since it's used by English actors (many of whom I regard as world's best) perhaps there is a subtle connection. Nev

Marty, when did the ABC ever say anything positive about the current government and prime minister? Whether it is Q and A, Lateline, 7:30, Hamster Wheel, Shaun Micallefs Mad As Hell or just selective reporting out of context, it's always anti Lib. Rudd, Gillard, Swan and the rest of that lot were never treated that way. But then you only have to look at your signature quote to see which side of the fence you are on.
