RAAus has a few bob put aside and various people have suggested it set up a fully-owned “home base” for Rec flying.

If it was closer the population CoG of Oz it would be ideal.

The Grobs, and all the aircraft maintenance equipment were sold last year - and from what I saw, nearly all of it brought good money - even though some of the Grobs had around 12,000 TT.

Slattery Auctions sold them, but Slatterys delete all information relating to auction prices and bidding, as soon as the auction is finished - meaning you cannot find out anything about the sales prices, unless you actually bid on an item.

It's a pretty devious stunt to stop you from tracking their actual sales, maybe sales, or simply passed-in items. Often a lot of auction items are put up for auction again and again, until the auction house gets what it wants for the item.

But in the case of the China Southern aircraft and equipment, it appears it was all sold on the day of the auction. Liquidators generally don't put high reserves on items, they just want to finalise the company liquidation.

Grob are still in business as far as I understand, manufacturing powered trainers, despite having gone bankrupt in 2008. The company assets were purchased by another business, who revived the Grob manufacturing operations.

Thanks onetrack. I stopped going to pickles car auctions when I found that they had high but undisclosed reserves. They would then transport the cars interstate and try again.

Some people who thought they had bought a car were told to increase their offer or go without.

The International flight training academy at Mildura is apparently no more and dozens of training aircraft which have been sitting idle on the field since COVID shut it all down.

Looks like the 21 cessna 172sp aircraft have flown one maintenance type flight each in the last month. Have such helpful politicians as peter dutton probably doesn't help any business dealing with the Chinese.

The problem with Chinese money being poured into Australia is - if it's not stolen, embezzled, or bribe income they're trying to dispose of "legally" - then any "honest" funding has, as a major partner, the CCP or PLA.

This second feature stems from the fact that the Chinese Govt insists that the CCP or the PLA must be a major partner in every sizeable or strategic Chinese business operation.

If you want to start a sizeable business in China as a foreigner, you're not allowed to own more than 51% of the company. Your joint venture partner is always the Chinese Govt.

The International Aviation Alliance company, which owns the Flying Academy at Mildura was funded using embezzled funds, provided by a former PLA officer, whose whereabouts and contactability now seem to be extremely vague.

Peter Dutton mightn't be an outstanding politician, but at least he's aware of the insidious and constant aims of the Chinese - to acquire as much Western technology and advantage as they possibly can - illegally, if need be - to ensure China becomes No 1 world power.

I took a plane into YMIA recently (been many years) and was surprised at the gaggle of Cessna’s etc parked on the apron off taxiway E. What a waste!
Australia is just a southern state of China anyway, we would be screwed without them!
