D-Motor

Well I have a D motor, the support he gives by phone and email is instant, any spares needed is sent with the quickly.

 

Service bulletins, well there is no real system to that yet, but all changes such as an updated more powerful alternator was sent out with tools and easily changed.

 

The instructions leaves allot to wish for, most of what exist now are from customers and resellers.

 

He sent a free engine to a school in England in premise that they would make a pro manual for him, still have not seen it.

All the Jabiru owner's could get together & make a really good manual.

For what it's worth (evidently not much, nowadays) there used to be a convention among professional translators, however gifted (and some of those listening post spooks could be fluent in half a dozen languages, and competent in a dozen or so more) that formal translations were only ever done into their own native language...

Come on Bex I can do that too...my son teaches english in Shanghai he can do the english to chinese for me...he also does a bit of japanese so could also do a third manual taz.gif.c750d78125a77f219b0619b1f23e3e90.gif

My Chinese Daughter is fluent in Italian, my Niece fluent in Japanese and my Oz Daughters fluent in Bogan.

Jeeze, Mark...you of all people should know better...or have the last couple of years woven a merciful amnesia round your last brush with an aircraft manual???

Speaking of Bogan...next time you are back here or you maybe able to find it online SBS has a series called "Houseos" Highly recommend it as its like a lot of reality now in some suburbs

How much does a d-motor really weigh ? If you were to swap your Jabiru engine for one, complete with cooling system, what would be the extra weight? Answers in Chinese accepted as long as they use arabic numerals.

When I removed my Jabiru 2200 I weighed all the bits taken out at 68kg. Only items not included were the prop and spinner.

 

The complete D-Motor installation with fluids and ready to run was 64kg. Add a prop and spinner which will be near identical.

 

If anyone wants a detailed breakdown let me know.

 

An overall saving of 4kg with a 15-20% increase in power (depending if you think a hyd tappet Jab actually produces 80hp) for the same fuel burn of 13-14L/hr

 

A small but insignificant shift in empty CG on my aircraft which was nose heavy with the Jab, so it moved the right way.

 

As of today I have just over 280hrs on the D-Motor and running well.
