Stolen Dash 8 crash and burn

Recommended Posts

It was in the US. He was ground staff for the airline, though I don't know if he was an engineer or not. But he definitely knew how to start the q400. From the audio he knew what the consequences would be, and decided to crash rather than be arrested or shot down. And from the audio he was completely done with life, so it was suicide. I feel for the guy and his family.

If it happened in Australia that guy would have had an ASIC card. Shows how useless a card the anyone can get is. If anything it shows ASIC for what it is.

True, I didn’t say it made any sense, but the political knee-jerk will happen regardless.

So sad really, he managed to hide an obvious severe mental health issue.

Flying the plane was the easy part, going thru with it would had been a huge challenge! RIP, nobody wins here

The media knee-jerk is at full swing, stuff like 'how could somebody steal a plane after 9/11' . It could just as easily have been one of their pilots with a severe depressive event.

Can't see that 9/11 has anything to do with it except it's a plane involved. The 9/11 people had planned for a deliberate assault on the USA which was successful beyond their expectations. Nev

Personally I can see a very large association to 9/11 from the gen publics POV especially when you take into account a fighter jet was involved. At the time few knew it was a disturbed employee, could have been very different, so yes to me it's very relevant & would have been more so had he been in the air for longer over a built up area.

There's no similarity of intent. . How the general public view it is their concern. They believe what the hystericals and sensation peddlers tell them. Single engine fighters flying over built up areas are a risk all the time, as they are instructed to eject if the thing malfunctions. Nev

Bind Freddy knows that; but when do the media allow facts to mar a sensationalist story.

Next they will be blaming the flight sim programmers for showing the startup sequence.

There's 100% similarity about access to an aircraft though; the locals had probably been blasting the government about stupid USIC (or whatever) cards, and the stupidity of having to padlock and aircraft, and the costs, and how it was easy to get around anyway.........and someone just walked in and flew one away. Not just a little Cessna mind you, but a half serious aircraft that could do a lot of damage in a shopping centre.

Maybe the last pilot left the keys in it :) it one of those things no matter want rule you bring in you will never stop it ,people even steal arm tanks, boats, cars ,trucks ,wheel chairs for a joy ride you see it on the news at south Brisbane . At the end of the day someone has to have access to it so how do you brain scan them to do the right thing .

Based on Australia's gun laws, you can look forward to a short amnesty to bring in all aircraft for crushing.

The gun laws worked.[/Quote]Only insofar as removing most military assault rifles; the murder rate is pretty much on a very slight decline, with the method changing to knives, and worse still, bludgeoning.

Multiple murders are usually family murder-suicides, due to custody disputes or financial difficulties. Since removal of the above types of weapons, there have been virtually no mass murders such as Port Arthur or the regular US mass shootings.

Try going and stabbing or bludgeoning 35 people to death.

It's the only good thing Little Johnny ever did.
