  1. I’ve been around this brown land a few times towing in the 80-90’s with an old XE Falcoon, was great back then, hardly anyone around at the remote spots, these days it’s like Coles carpark anywhere on the map, thank Christ I won’t be doing that again! EP is great but not out in the sticks!
  2. Yes the local area is very famil now! Oil CO’s must have been hurting over the last two years or so. Oddly enuf corporate charter is still happening right thru this mess, who said no one’s got any money? 😉
  3. It’s a new year, you can wipe the slate clean(we wish!) and fly more!👍
  4. Been around for ages, staged for entertainment purposes!😂😂
  5. If any of these weasly ideas for new engines designs were any good then they would have been invented ages ago and the top dogs knocked off the shelf, never gunna happen!😂
  6. Pie in the sky stuff for all of us alive today😂😂😂
  7. Most of todays A/C have a GPS of some form, that would get you out of trouble if yr speedo went for a holiday!👍 Pitch+power = perf. Few would get taught that and rarely practice it becoming ever reliant on the pretty glass box full of wizardry.
  8. Most speedo’s are inaccurate at the bottom end of the spectrum. I only ever use them as a guide when driving my toy planes, transport Cat I take far more notice! it’s a good idea to stooge around on a calm day at say 3K and record the speedo’s indications at varies gas pedal positions and pitch, know your plane without the need for a speedo👍
  9. $130 hr wet + instructor (I assume) is cheap! I flew out of YNBR today, hot hot hot!
  10. I hear of a fatal this morning at YRED, Commander into the water after an engine failure, I believe tried to turn back. RIP🙁
  11. I used to watch a guy cover his Jab (stretched version) with a full cover set, took him ages especially if it was windy. The covers looked crap & faded, grass used to grow up under his plane so the extra work of keeping the off hard stand parking site serviceable and dealing with covers on and off for every flight would sure take the ‘fun’ out of it! I wouldn’t own a plane if I couldn’t keep it protected, in every sense of the word.
  12. I own several A/C despite some believing I’m not even a pilot (love that😂) and it costs me plenty, but hey dead a long time and somebody’s gotta keep the industry afloat😂😂😂 ,
  13. Owning an A/C for training then flogging it is a trade off. When it’s yours you pay for ALL the issues along the way and trust me there will be plenty! The best advantage is you open the hangar door and it’s there just the way you last left it, BUT you pay a huge premium for that convenience. Hiring means it’s a known cost, you use it, park it & forget about it. A 7 group of us bought a C150H a 100 years ago to learn, most of us where engineers so costs where very cheap, I was the only one that completed the goal, it got sold and all ended well, for me. It’s an option but a syndicate is usually fraught with hassles! Today I would rent, just get the job done with less headaches! ,
  14. What do you get for yr $30?
  15. The other thing to consider when buying a high time machine is resale, a high time airframe in a flying school environment is something most shy away from. like that old saying....you get what you paid for.
  16. PUF is/was common, I still use it today from basic stick & rudder to Transport Cat machines, silently of course in two crew😉
  17. It’s all a matter of discipline, it’s too easy to get a plane drivers ticket and keep it, plenty of pvt drivers out there who wander aimlessly around the sky, Ldg wheels up is just slack and lazy!
  18. Lost on foot out there......one has to ask, WTF?
  19. Ins CO’s love the afraid😉They rely on you worrying😂
  20. Shell 41, the STD in the industry been using it for ages.
  21. Nice music, I was asleep by around 2:30😉
  22. Large vessels like container ships have scheds, and operate in huge seas sometimes, relying on wind to power them is totally impracticable for that type of operation otherwise there would be a shortage of sail cloth!😂
  23. Same here, I don’t believe in insurance for anything other than my house, must have saved squillions over the years!
  24. We will all be rotting in the ground b4 fossil fuels are not needed! renewable is great but it’s not the total answer!
  25. The bulge was typical of the era built by the Pom’s, they liked ugly! The cockpit door was narrow so access into the office was tight and an ergonomic mess! Superb handling though👍
